Chiu Helps to Triple Up Short Stack

Level 4 : 75/150, 0 ante
David Chiu
David Chiu

David Chiu made it 300 preflop and was called by the short stack of the table. Another player in late position three-bet the action to 1,350 total. Chiu made the call and the short stack moved all in for 1,175 total.

The flop fell {8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Chiu checked. His opponent moved all in and Chiu mucked his cards. The two players left in the hand turns up their hands:

Player 1: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{9-Spades}
Player 2: (all in): {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The turn and river came {8-}{J-} and the short stack made a full house, eights full of jacks, to triple up back to around starting stack of 4,500. This hand knocked Chiu down to roughly 4,500 as well.

The table folded around and Affleck scooped the pot, bringing him up to around 2,200, but still looking for a double up.

His opponent held the {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

Barch Ousted

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

We've lost our defending champion Tex Barch. Barch was all in on the {7-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop against three other players. At the end of the hand, after the turn and river ran out with the {8-Clubs} and {J-Clubs}, Barch's {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{J-Spades}{3-Spades} couldn't beat one of the players' {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and he was eliminated.

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

After a preflop raise of 300, Bill Chen made it 1,150 total. His opponent asked how much Chen had behind before making the call.

The flop fell {3-Spades}{2-Spades}{K-Hearts} and Chen's opponent checked to him. Chen declared he was all in for his remaining 900 and his opponent laid his hand down. This brings Chen up to about 4,000 in chips plus his 3,000 worth of add-on's.

Brikis Bricks Out

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

Josh Brikis was all in preflop for his last 1,225 from his first bullet in this event. He had two callers, Matt Stout and Oliver Gill. Gill and Stout still had chips left and Gill would have to act first post flop.

The flop came down {9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Gill checked. Stout potted to put himself all in and Gill folded. Stout showed the {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Brikis held the {A-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Spades}.

The turn brought the {10-Spades} to give Brikis even more outs, but the {8-Hearts} fell on the river and completely missed him. Brikis lost the pot and tossed in his two remaining rebuy/add-on chips to jump back to 3,000. Stout has 10,000 and Gill has 5,600 after the hand.

Pickering Picks One Up

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

Action folded to one of the lovely PokerNews video hostesses Nicki Pickering in the cutoff seat. She limped in before action was on Kevin Saul on the button. Saul raised to 325. The small blind called, the big blind folded and then Pickering called.

The flop came down {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and everyone checked to see the {8-Clubs} fall on the turn. Action checked to Saul on fourth street and he bet 550. The small blind called and then Pickering called.

The {8-Diamonds} on the river paired the board and the small blind checked. After he did so, Pickering moved all in for 1,250. Saul folded and then the small blind followed suit, allowing Pickering to pick up the pot and move to 5,475.
