Bellande Rebounding

Level 9 : 300/600, 0 ante

After slipping in chips, Jean-Robert Bellande found himself in the big blind facing a raise from the small blind. He decided to call and they saw a flop heads up.

When the flop came {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, Bellande decided to raise his opponents bet. The player called and the turn came the {10-Spades}. This time the small blind check-called Bellande's bet. The river paired the board with the {9-Hearts} and both players checked.

Bellande announced, "I think I just got counterfeited," and showed his {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Indeed his flopped two pair had been counterfeited and he played Aces and nines with a Jack kicker. However, his opponent also flopped the same two pair with {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} and had to play Aces and nines with a five kicker.

Bellande scooped the pot and sits with 16,000.

Johnson Splits

Level 9 : 300/600, 0 ante

Marco Johnson opened the action from early position to 1,200 and found callers from a player in middle position and another from the big blind.

The flop came {6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Johnson led out after the first player checked. The opponent behind him flatted and the big blind got out of the way.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and the river was the {k-Clubs}. Johnson checked called both streets and split the pot with {A-Spades}{a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for Aces and fours against his opponents {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for nut low.

Johnson has now chipped up to 11,000.

Men Nguyen Chipping Up

Level 9 : 300/600, 0 ante

We missed most of the action, but came in on the board of {8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}.

The player in the small blind had bet 1200 and Men Nguyen raised to 2400 which put him all in. The player seemed to know his fate but still made the call for the rest of his stack.

Nguyen flipped over {J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the jack high flush. The river was a {6-Spades} securing a low for Nguyen and sending the losing player to the rail.

Nguyen is now up over 30,000.

Anthony Rivera Takes One from Mizzi

Level 9 : 300/600, 0 ante

Sorel Mizzi raised to 1,200 from middle position before Anthony Rivera made it three bets from the cutoff. Mizzi called and the two players saw an {A-Spades}{k-Hearts}{q-Spades} flop. Mizzi checked, Rivera bet 600 and Mizzi called.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds} and once again Mizzi checked and Rivera bet. This time, however, Mizzi folded and will move on to the next hand with 18,200. Anthony Rivera, on the other hand gains some momentum and a healthy 26,500 chip stack.

Cabs Are Here?

Level 10 : 400/800, 0 ante

We just overheard a player ask a floorman “Are there any taxi cabs around here?” The floorman was obviously confused so the player clarified that he needed a cab because he had to go to the bathroom but didn’t want to miss a couple of hands. Needless to say, he was directed to the nearest bathroom and on his way there, shouted “Deal me out”. The floorman jokingly said sure as the players around had a good laugh.

All In Blind

Level 10 : 400/800, 0 ante

While we were checking in on one of our chip leaders, Francesco "Cheech" Barbaro, we found a player who was all in blind. Picking it up on the river, the board was {7-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Spades} and the current low hand was {2-}{4-} and the current high hand {A-}{A-} for Aces and eights.

The table encouraged the player to flip one card at a time and he obliged. A {J-} was the first card off and the table, who seemed to be rooting for the individual, jumped up a little in unison. The second card was a {6-} and the third a {10-}. Although he had no shot at the low now, he still had a few outs to take the high and stay alive. He slowly peeled the last card and it was an {8-} giving him a full house and the table celebrated with him.

The chips he won weren't even 3,000 but all you need is a chip and chair! Barbaro, who was one of the all in players biggest fans during the hand, has much more than just one chip. He has climbed all the way to 47,000 now.
