Here's Another Hit, Barry Shul

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

We caught up with the action as the chips were being pushed and the cards being cleared, but from what we can gather a player moved all in holding {J-}{10-}. The very next player moved all in as well, holding {K-}{K-}. Barry Shulman was next in line to shove, holding {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}.

The flop and turn ran out with three diamonds, culminating with the fall of a {K-Diamonds} on the river. Shulman was able to triple up with his nut flush, as he was the shortest stack involved in the action. No players were eliminated this hand, but Shulman managed to build his stack to about 26,500.

Bonding Moving On Up

With Bonding raising under the gun a short stack in late position moved all in for about 7,000. When the action got back to Bonding he took his time before eventually calling with {Q-}{10-}. His opponent only had {A-}{7-} but he had the lead going to the flop.

Things looked good for the short stack because the cards came {7-}{4-}{5-}{3-} but the river {Q-} gave the pot to Bonding.

Bonding On A Roll

A player moved all in from late position and the action folded around to Lars Bonding in the big blind who snap called after looking at his cards.

Bonding: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

The board fell {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{Q-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Bonding was able to scoop the pot and bring the field one person closer to the money.

We're in the Money

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

The dealers were told to stop dealing after their hand was up. Once the player count was tallied, it was announced that everyone left was in the money!

McClung Leads as Players Make the Money on Last Hand of Night

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

The Rio was once again a packed house for Day 1 of Event #34: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em. The field started with 3,144 players but only 323 remain after ten levels of play and we just barely made the money on the last hand of the night. The chip leader appears to be Christopher 'd0r1t0s' McClung from Montreal, Canada with 114,100 in chips.

Some other big stacks near the top of the leaderboard going into day 2 are Luke Davies (109,300), Nick Petrangelo (95,000), Lee Satterwhite (84,400) and Karoon Monfared (84,200). Notables that survived the day include Team PokerStars Pro Gualter Salles (Brazil), Lars Bonding, Dwyte Pilgrim, Matt Affleck, Barry Shulman and Mike Leah.

A few players that were unfortunately eliminated throughout the day were Team PokerStars Pros Jason Mercier (USA), Randy Lew (Online), Humberto Brenes (Costa Rica), Liv Boeree (United Kingdom) and David Williams (USA), as well as Michael Mizrachi, Erick Lindgren, Gavin Smith, Bruce Buffer, Amarillo Slim and Kathy Liebert.

While it’s doubtful that we will make it to the final table tomorrow, the field should be whittled down to a only a few tables by the end of the day. Check back in with PokerNews at 2:30 p.m. PST where play will resume in the Amazon room. Hope to see you there.
