McClung Leads as Players Make the Money on Last Hand of Night

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

The Rio was once again a packed house for Day 1 of Event #34: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em. The field started with 3,144 players but only 323 remain after ten levels of play and we just barely made the money on the last hand of the night. The chip leader appears to be Christopher 'd0r1t0s' McClung from Montreal, Canada with 114,100 in chips.

Some other big stacks near the top of the leaderboard going into day 2 are Luke Davies (109,300), Nick Petrangelo (95,000), Lee Satterwhite (84,400) and Karoon Monfared (84,200). Notables that survived the day include Team PokerStars Pro Gualter Salles (Brazil), Lars Bonding, Dwyte Pilgrim, Matt Affleck, Barry Shulman and Mike Leah.

A few players that were unfortunately eliminated throughout the day were Team PokerStars Pros Jason Mercier (USA), Randy Lew (Online), Humberto Brenes (Costa Rica), Liv Boeree (United Kingdom) and David Williams (USA), as well as Michael Mizrachi, Erick Lindgren, Gavin Smith, Bruce Buffer, Amarillo Slim and Kathy Liebert.

While it’s doubtful that we will make it to the final table tomorrow, the field should be whittled down to a only a few tables by the end of the day. Check back in with PokerNews at 2:30 p.m. PST where play will resume in the Amazon room. Hope to see you there.
