Dwan Slips Early

Hold'em

Tom Dwan took his seat and was instantly confronted with a Tommy Hang raise to 24,000. Dwan made the call before check-calling bets on every street as the board was spread {8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{K-Spades}{2-Spades}{6-Spades}.

Hang tabled his {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}, and once Dwan mucked, he slipped to 51,000 in chips as Hang moved to 520,000.

Day 3 Upon Us; Binger In The Lead

Chip leader Michael Binger
Chip leader Michael Binger

Welcome back to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and the 2011 World Series of Poker for day three of Event #37: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship!

The 240-player starting field has been reduced to just 23 players with today expecting to be the final day in one of the last $10,000 buy-in championship events. Players are already guaranteed a $21,905 payday, but each and everyone of the remaining players will have their sights set on the $609,130 first prize, coveted gold bracelet and title of H.O.R.S.E. Champion.

The story that received the most attention yesterday was the controversy that occurred between Daniel Negreanu and Michael Binger over a possible angle shoot, and whether or not a particular player should be bound to a raise. With that particular hand lasting close to ten minutes, Binger eventually tank-folded the turn to keep just a handful of big bets in his stack. Although severely rattled and short-stacked, Binger managed to regain his composure and fight hard to eventually bag an amassed 742,000 in chips to be our overnight chip leader.

Fabrice Soulier (560,000), Daniel Ospina (532,000), Jacobo Fernandez (526,000) and Ram Vaswani (505,000) along racelet winners John Monnette (325,000), Chau Giang (262,000) and Max Pescatori (243,000) still remain, while youngsters Brett Richey (142,000), Yuval Bronshtein (135,000) and Tom Dwan (135,000) are still in the mix.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be reporting all day long providing continuous live coverage from 3:00 p.m. PDT as we aim to crown the Event #37: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship winner!
