Silverman Finds the Right Call

Level 14

Hold'em

One hand after losing a sizable Hold'em pot to Gary Benson, Frankie O'Dell again opened with a raise. Mori Eskandani made it three bets, and Sam Silverman put in the fourth bet on the button. O'Dell and Eskandani both called. The flop fell {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Action checked to Silverman, who bet and picked up one caller in O'Dell. Silverman bet again when the turn brought the {2-Hearts}, and O'Dell called while the rest of the breaking table began racking their chips to move to new seats. A fourth heart, the {7-Hearts}, appeared on the river. O'Dell saw his opportunity and bet into Silverman, who threw up his hands.

Silverman tanked for several minutes while the table waiting impatiently for him to decide so they could get new seat cards. Finally he made the call and breathed a sigh of relief when neither of O'Dell's {q-Spades}{10-Clubs} were hearts. Silverman's {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} flopped a set and held through the four-flushed board to win the pot. "You're supposed to make that call," O'Dell said. "I don't know what took so long."

Silverman now has 220,000. After dropping two pots in a row, O'Dell is down around 150,000.
