Aguiar Bests Queen High

Jon Aguiar
Jon Aguiar

Jon Aguiar has been playing three handed now since the last break, when we last caught up with him we found him putting out a bet on the button preflop and receiving a call from the big blind. The dealer put out a {3-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop where the big blind check raised Aguiar, who instantly made the call.

A {6-Diamonds} turn lead to the big blind taking control of the hand and putting out a bet, Aguiar called. A {6-Hearts} on the river lead to a repeat of action as again the big blind bet and Aguiar called. The big blind announced "queen high", but failed to show his cards, while Aguiar flipped over {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} for a full house sixes over fives. Aguiar has a nice chip lead over the two other players at his table, but it is not going to be easy as one of his opponents is none other than Randy Lew.

Great Fold To Regretful Fold

Preflop, a player in middle position raised it up, the cutoff re-raised, John Phan in the small blind re-raised, the player in the big blind re-raised again and everyone called (the cutoff player was all in for around 1,300).

The flop came {5-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{3-Spades}, Phan checked, the big blind bet, the player in middle position raised, and Phan took a second to think and and shake his head before finally folding. The big blind called and the turn came {q-Diamonds} with both players checking.

The river came {8-Diamonds} and the big blind bet with the middle position player calling.

The big blind showed {a-}{a-} the middle position player showed {k-}{k-} and the all in player in the cutoff showed {10-}{10-}. Phan then finally let out an expletive and said, "I knew one of you guys had something like that, I folded {q-}{q-} on the flop."

Obviously, Phan would've turned a set of queens and taken down the huge pot, but he is still very healthy with over 10,000.

Greenstein Gaining Ground

Action folded to Barry Greenstein on the button who decided to raise. The small blind then re-raised, the big blind folded, and Greenstein called.

The flop came {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and the small blind bet out only to have Greenstein put out a raise. The small blind called and the {q-Diamonds} came on the turn. The small blind opted to check-call a bet from Greenstein and they saw the {3-Spades} hit on the river. Both players checked and the small blind flipped over his {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} but found his hand was second best to Greenstein's {k-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a pair of fours.

Filiipi Flees the Scene

We found Amnon Filiipi move all in on a {j-}{k-}{8-} board, and receive a call.

Filiipi: {Q-}{10-}
Opponent: {A-}{a-}

Filiipi was unable to catch up as the turn-river both came blanks, {J-}{10-}. Filiipi only had a pair of tens which was no match for his opponents aces, and he was eliminated.

Hawrilenko Doubles, Still Short

Preflop, the button raised and Matt Hawrilenko re-raised, the button re-raised, and Hawrilenko re-raised to be all in for his last 850. Hawrilenko has {a-Spades}{2-Hearts} and his opponent on the button had {q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and Hawrilenko doubled to 1,900. However, he is still short and will need to make some serious moves if he wants to have any chance of winning his table

"How about them apples?"

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante
Richard Brodie
Richard Brodie

We don't know what happened before the river, but we know some betting had taken place because there was around 1,800 chips already in the pot. On a {6-}{3-}{2-}{J-Clubs}{8-Spades} board we saw Richard Brodie bet and receive a call from one of the four players left at his table.

Brodie showed {5-}{7-} for seven high, and after a brief examination of Brodie's cards his opponent flipped over {K-}{9-} for king high and exclaimed "how bout them apples?"

Buss Wins One

Jerry Buss
Jerry Buss

We caught up to the action to find Jerry Buss check raising on a {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs} board. His opponent called and got to see the {j-Hearts} on the river. It was here again that Buss put out a bet. Buss' opponent then announced to the table "kings!" and made the call. Buss calmly flipped over {9-}{10-} for trip tens. Which had {K-}{K-} beat.
