Speicher Spikes the Queen

David Speicher raised under the gun and both the small blind and the big blind called and came along for the ride. With a {4-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} flop Speciher put out a bet after both blinds checked, both blinds called.

The {q-Diamonds} on the turn brought a bet from Todd Witteles in the big blind and a call from Speciher, the small blind folded. A river {A-Diamonds} let both players check and flip cards. Speicher was first to show and tabled {Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a pair of queens, while Witteles mucked.

"Sorry Man, I Got There."

We came in on the turn with the board reading {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Stephen Bass bet. Jeff Siegal then raised and Bass re-raised. Siegal put out the the call and the two saw the {2-Diamonds} river.

Bass bet out again but Siegal just called this time and Bass said, "Sorry man, I got there" and showed {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for the rivered wheel.

After the hand, Bass is up to 45,000 and Seigal fell a little down to 55,000

Ben Yu Eliminated

We caught up to the action to find Hal Lubarsky putting out a bet on a {8-Clubs}{k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} board. Ben Yu called and was left with 600 in chips. With the {9-Clubs} falling for the river Yu put the rest of his chips in the middle and was all in. Lubarsky made the call and cards were tabled.

Yu: {k-}{q-}
Lubarsky: {7-}{7-}

Yu had a top pair of kings, but it was Lubarsky's full house that had the credentials to take the pot down. Last year Ben Yu came in second in this event. This year he is going home early, albeit with $4,118 in his pocket.

Al "Cold Decked" Barbieri

Level 3 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Al Barbieri went to flop with Mark Rumbaugh. As the dealer was spreading the {3-Spades} {5-Hearts} {9-Hearts} flop Barbieri looked up and said to us, "Watch me get cold decked here. It's been happening all day."

Barbieri fired out a bet and Rumbaugh folded. As he was dragging the pot he said, "I was down to 800 chips yesterday during heads up and I came all the way back."
