Soi Nguyens Some Back

On a flop of {6-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts}, Soi Nguyen checked to his opponent who fired out a bet of 200. Another player raised to 525 from the button and Nguyen made the call. The original bettor folded his hand and the two players saw a turn. The turn came {3-Hearts} and Nguyen moved all in for 550 more.

Nguyen's opponent seemed to toss the idea of calling back and forth before eventually pushing his cards toward the muck. Although Nguyen scooped the pot, he's still down a significant bit from the starting stack.

Mayrinck Out of the Blocks

Level 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

Maria Mayrinck opened to 75 from early position and was met with a call from the hi-jack as the flop was spread {A-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.

Mayrinck fired out 125 and was called by her opponent before the {k-Clubs} on the turn was greeted by a 225-chip bet from Mayrinck. Once her opponent made the call and the river landed the {7-Diamonds}, Mayrinck fired her third barrel; this time amounting to 300.

Her opponent made the call, and when Mayrinck tabled her {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, she collected the pot to move to 5,250 in chips.

Nassif Folds

Level 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

Gabriel Nassif opened to 75 from the cutoff, and after the big blind made the call and checked the {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} flop, Nassif fired out 100.

The big blind check-called as the {6-Spades} rolled of on the turn and both players checked. The river of the {A-Spades} saw the big blind toss in 225 and Nassif quickly folded.

Akkari Slips

Level 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

Catching the action on the {8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs} board, Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari fired out a bet from the cutoff of 225.

His lone opponent in the hand bumped it up to 600 from the button, and after a few moments Akkari made the call as the {K-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

Akkari checked and the button casually tossed in a yellow 1,000-denomination chip. Taking his full measure of time, Akkari eventually kicked his cards to the muck while slipping to 3,550 in chips.

Online Poker Update

Level 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

There has been a brief delay to the start of this event, as the WSOP had a distinguished guest saying a few words. Texas Congressman Joe Barton, who recently put through a bill to office that would work on the legislation of online poker, said a few words about the bill. He said that he hopes that this bill will be passed by the current Congress representativies, and that online poker will be back sooner rather then later. Let's hope he's right!
