Dwan Continues To Make Moves

We told you before how Tom Dwan was down to only 700 chips during the last level of Day 1, and how he somehow managed to get that number up over 10,000 before the end of the day. Now, he has nearly doubled himself up here early on Day 2.

Jean-Robert Bellande raised it up from early position and got calls from Dwan and Dany Georges. All three players drew two cards each and continued the betting.

Georges bet out 600 and Bellande raised it up to 1,200. Dwan and Georges called and each player drew one. Again, Georges bet out and both Dwan and Bellande called. Georges stood pat and both Dwan and Bellande again drew one.

Georges bet out one last time after the third draw, Bellande folded, and Dwan called and showed {9-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-} to have the pat {9-}{7-}{x-}{x-}{x-} of Georges beat. Dwan is up to 17,000 and now has plenty of chips to play with.

"Yesssss!"

We caught up to the action to find Joe Tehan raising on the button. Gavin Smith in the small blind then raised, and received a call from Tehan. With Tehan deciding to take two cards, Smith only needed one. After the first draw Smith bet again and received a call.

On the second draw Tehan again took two, and Smith took one. Smith then was able to move all in with his remaining chips and after some goating from Smith and Eli Elezra Tehan decided to make the call.

Tehan took two while Smith stood pat. Smith flipped over {8-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for an eight low. While Tehan wasn't able to squeeze out the cards he needed and gave them to the muck. With Tehan's fold Smith was able to double up and now hovers at a more manageable 12,000 in chips.

Fricke Starts Day 2 With A Bang

As we wandered over to Jimmy Fricke's table, we saw that he was already involved in some action early on. From early position, Balazs Biri raised it up to 1,200 and Fricke called with each player drawing two.

Fricke bet out 600 and Biri raised it up to 1,200. Fricke called and drew another, Biri stood pat.

After the second draw, Fricke checked, Biri bet 1,200, Fricke check-raised it up to 2,400 and Biri called. Both players elected to stand pat on the third draw and Fricke bet 1,200 with Biri electing just to call.

Fricke showed {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} to have the {8-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-} of Biri just beat. Fricke took a big chunk out of Biri's stack to start the day and he has continued his dominance early here on Day 2.
