Booth and Mueller Lead The Way Into Day 2

Doug Booth - Day 1 Chip Leader
Doug Booth - Day 1 Chip Leader

Welcome to Day 2 of PokerNews' coverage of Event #55, the $50,000 Poker Player's Championship. An elite field of 128 came to play, creating a total prize pool $6,144,000 and first-place prize of $1,720,328. Following five levels on Day 1, atop the chip counts is Doug Booth with 324,600. In second place, though, is two-time bracelet winner Greg Mueller with 322,700.

Only five players failed to survive Day 1. Arturo Diaz, Phil Laak, Andrew Pantling, Jani Sointula, and Eli Elezra were all Day 1 casualties. That number will surely rise on Day 2 as the rest of the field will look to position themselves to make a run at arguably the most prestigious bracelet to be won.

Day 2 resumes at 3 p.m. local time, about 15 minutes from now. So be sure to keep it here at PokerNews throughout the day as we provide you with updates of the exciting action as it takes place!
