Feldman Runs Into Rockets

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We caught up with the action to see Peter Feldman calling the all in of his opponent on a king high board holding {A-Spades}{k-Hearts}. Unfortunately for Feldman, his opponent was holding {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} and was able to scoop the pot, knocking Feldman down to about 28,000.

Volpe Takes a Hit

We stopped by Benjamin Volpe's table, but it appears that he's been cut down to size in the early part of this blind level, with a few more chips heading into the direction of Frenchman Victor Choupeaux.

The action folded around to Choupeaux who raised to 2,500 from the hijack before the flop; the cutoff, button and small blind folded, but Volpe called before check-calling Choupeaux's bet of 3,400 on the flop of {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} before check-folding to Choupeaux's bet of 5,100 on the turn of the {3-Clubs}.

Although Volpe has had chips taken from him, it also appears that Choupeaux had a chunk of change removed as well, as he's now only back up to 20,000.

Lew Lives

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Kenny Nguyen opened the action by raising to 2,900. Randy Lew immediately announced all in and pushed his stack of 13,300 into the middle. Action folded back around to Kenny Nguyen who counted out enough chips to make the call but verbally debated with himself whether or not it was the correct move. Eventually he tossed his cards into the muck and showed {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}. Nguyen was able to convince Lew to show his hand, the {A-Spades}Kh} and Nguyen clapped with joy that he made the right lay down.

Paris Picks One Up

Brian Paris and his opponent on the button were heads-up to a flop of {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} when our field reporter arrived at the scene; Paris bet out 2,600 and the button called before both players checked the turn of the {J-Diamonds}.

However, Paris checked his option on the river of the {10-Clubs} before the button fired out 3,200 in chips. Paris mucked his hand.

Kagin KO's Chang

The action folded around to Adam Kagin who raised to 2,500 before David Chang shoved from middle position. All the other players left them to duke it out, and Kagin pondered his option for about a minute before making the call with {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, flipping against Chang's {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

The flop of {2-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} changed nothing, but Chang picked up the straight draw on the turn of the {10-Clubs}. Howeve,r the {6-Spades} bricked out on the river and Chang picked up his bag and started walking away. The other players were puzzled, because the stacks were actually quite close and the dealer was cutting them down to make sure.

Despite their repeated cries at Chang to get him to come back, he stayed the course on his way out of the Amazon. He knew he was covered (albeit by a very small margin) - and after the chips were cut down, that was confirmed.

Smith Sends One Home

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Action opened immediately when a player under the gun moved all in for 11,300. It was folded all the way around to Gavin Smith on the button who counted out his chips and dropped them in the middle for a call. The small blind got out of the way and the big blind capped his cards.

"Do you want to triple up?", the big blind player asked the player under the gun. Eventually he mucked his cards and the all in and the call were turned over:

Smith: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Opponent: {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The board fell {K-Hearts}{A-Spades}{7-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Smith's pair of aces were able to send one toward the rail, bringing his stack up to around 80,000.

Peter Feldman Pads His Stack

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Our PokerNews field reporter picked up the action between Peter Feldman and his opponent on a board that read {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, where Feldman led out for 4,700 into an 8,000 pot.

The opponent called, then called Feldman's bet of 5,500 on the river of the {J-Diamonds}, only to muck after Feldman showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for two pair. Feldman is now up to 45,000 in chips.

Wherefore Art Thou, Volpe?

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

It appears that with almost 15 minutes gone into the first level of play today, our chip leader, Benjamin Volpe, had yet to arrive. His stack had been unbagged, but his chips were in a massive pile in his seat over on table 350, with the receipt laying directly on top of them.

Since he's got 150+ big blinds in his stack, we reckon he deserves a little sleep-in after the hard work he put in yesterday. Fear not, he's now arrived!
