Staszko Them to the Top

Phil Collins limped in from middle position, Ben Lamb completed from the small blind, and Martin Staszko checked his option from the big. The flop was {4-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}, and Lamb led for 850,000. Martin called, Collins released, and the turn was the {a-Clubs}.

Lamb slowed down, checking to Staszko who fired 1.2 million. Lamb called.

The river was the {k-Hearts}, Lamb checked again, and Staszko knuckled behind. Lamb tabled {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a missed straight draw, and Staszko opened up {k-Spades}{5-Spades} for a pair of kings, and shipped the pot.

Staszko Rivers Trips

From middle position, Martin Staszko raised to 950,000. Phil Collins was the only caller and he made the call from the big blind to see the flop come down {J-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. Collins checked and Staszko fired 1.025 million. Collins called.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and put a third spade on board. Collins and Staszko both checked to see the {5-Spades} complete the board on the river. With the board paired and four spades out there, both players checked.

Collins showed the {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, but lost to Staszko's {Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for trips.

It's a relatively quiet crowd in attendance, although the occasional times there has been post-flop action those who are here are making some noise. A rough count of heads suggests something approaching 300 here following the action in the so-called "mothership."

All ten of the players appear to have supporters in attendance, although most hands are only being punctuated by light clapping.

Phil Collins' crew of supporters have been the most vocal by far, their cheers consistently punctuated by snatches of his pop star namesake's hits. And we did hear some baa-a-a-ing following a recent hand won by Ben Lamb.

Looking around the arena, we see that Andrey Pateychuk, eliminated in 15th not too long ago, has stuck around to support his friend Anton Makievskyi. There's a number of other familiar faces from the summer in the crowd as well, including Nenad Medic, Mike Matusow, David Williams, Jean-Robert Bellande, Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler, James Bord, Brent Hanks, Dan O'Brien, Erick Lindgren, David Vamplew, Jon "PearlJammer" Turner, John Duthie, Keith Ferrera, Humberto and Roberto Brenes, and the Main Event-crushing couple, David "Doc" Sands and Erika Moutinho.

Drumroll Please

Eoghan O'Dea opened to 900,000 from early position, Phil Collins called on his direct left, and the action behind folded. The dealer fanned {4-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, and O'Dea led for 1 million. Collins called.

The turn was the {j-Diamonds}, and O'dea opted to check. Collins slid out 2.2 million, O'Dea mucked, and Collins picked up the pot.
