Jaffe McDoubles Through McLean

McLean Karr raised to 36,000 from the cutoff and Jonathan Jaffe made the call from the big blind. Jaffe then checked the {7-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop, Karr bet 32,000, and Jaffe check-raised to 80,000. Karr thought a moment before putting in a three-bet and Jaffe called all in for a total of 270,000.

Karr: {Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Jaffe: {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Jaffe had made a big call to catch Karr in a bluff, but he still needed to dodge the two overs. He did so when the {6-Hearts} hit the turn, leaving just the river. As fate would have it, the {K-Spades} rolled off and allowed Jaffe to double through Karr.

Robert Mizrachi Eliminated in 12th Place ($40,890)

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Robert Mizrachi - 12th place
Robert Mizrachi - 12th place

Robert Mizrachi, Nicolas Levi, Michael Benvenuti and Jarred Solomon all saw the flop of {J-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}. Action checked around and the {10-Clubs} came on the turn. A raising war between Mizrachi and Benvenuti came next, culminating with Mizrachi all in for his tournament life.

Mizrachi: {9-Hearts} {8-Spades}
Benvenuti: {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}

It was all over for Mizrachi as the {A-Hearts} river was irrelevant, ending his tournament.

Battle of the Small Pocket Pairs

Action folded to Sam Stein on the button and he raised to 34,000. The small blind got out of the way, but Eric Cloutier potted from the big blind. Stein repotted, Cloutier called off for his last 89,000, and the cards were turned on their back.

Stein: {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}
Cloutier: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

It was small-pocket pair vs. small-pocket pair with Cloutier being on top. The board ran out {9-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{K-Spades}{6-Clubs} and Cloutier booked himself a double.

Jason DeWitt Eliminated in 13th Place ($32,183)

Jason DeWitt - 13th place
Jason DeWitt - 13th place

In a blind-versus-blind confrontation, Tommy Vinas raised to 38,000 from the small blind only to have Jason DeWitt reraise to 114,000. Vinas did not back down and put in another raise, which prompted DeWitt to call all in for around 160,000 more.

DeWitt: {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Vinas: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

DeWitt had chose to make a stand with jack-nine, which looked like it might pay off after the flop came down {J-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}; however, he needed to dodge the flush draw and overs of Vinas. Unfortunately for DeWitt, the {9-Diamonds} peeled off on the turn and gave Vinas the said flush. All hope was not lost, however, as DeWitt could still hit a nine or jack on the river to boat up and scoop the pot.

The dealer slowly burned and revealed the {Q-Clubs}. DeWitt missed and he hit the rail in 13th place.

Chalk One Up to Jaffe

An under-the-gun Nicolas Levi raised to 35,000 and received a single call in the form of Jonathan Jaffe in the hijack. Levi then led out for 40,000 on the {3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop, which Jaffe called. Both players checked the {J-Diamonds} turn and watched the {6-Clubs} hit the river. Levi checked, Jaffe fired out 86,000, and Levi gave up on the hand.

Stein Continuing To Roll

Tommy Vinas raised to 33,000 from the cutoff and Sam Stein called from the small blind. The flop came {5-Hearts} {4-Spades} {J-Clubs} and Stein check-called 50,000 from Vinas. The turn came {4-Clubs} and again Stein checked. Vinas put out 130,000 and Stein called.

The river brought the {2-Clubs} and both players checked. Stein tabled {J-Spades} {10-Spades} for top pair and Vinas mucked his hand.

Jason Somerville Eliminated in 14th Place ($32,183)

Jason Somerville - 14th place
Jason Somerville - 14th place

Jason Somerville opened from early position only to face a pot-sized reraise from Sam Stein in the big blind. Somerville responded by moving all in for around 210,000 and Stein made the call.

Stein: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Somerville: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

No surprise that it was a race heading to the flop, which came down {8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Somerville was still behind but could now make a straight with one of Stein's jacks. The {5-Hearts} turn was no help, leaving Somerville's fate in the unpredictable currents of the river. With the marksmanship of a sniped, the dealer snapped the {4-Diamonds} on the center of the table. Somerville's run in the $10K PLH Championship came to an end in 14th place.

Vinas Climbing

Action folded all the way around to Stephen Chidwick in the small blind and he raised to 40,000. Tommy Vinas was in the big blind and put in a reraise to 100,000. Chidwick made the call and it was heads up to the {4-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop. At that point, Chidwick check-called a bet of 90,000 and then checked the {7-Clubs} turn.

Vinas kept the pressure on with a bet of 220,000 and Chidwick opted to release his hand.
