Tonne Leads Field to Day 2, Field Made the Money

The first day of Event 11, $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha, of the World Series of Poker is in the books after ten levels play. Some 970 players decided to play the event and we’re ending with 117. Chuck Tonne leads the field with 191,700.
Forming the chase pack are Susi Zhao (134,000) and Vincent Van Der Fluit (115,000). Also moving on to Day 2 are Tristan Wade (84,700), Michael Binger (66,400), Noah Boeken (60,300), AP Phahurat (52,000), Sorel Mizzi (39,200), JP Kelly (17,500) and Jonathan Aguiar (12,800).
When Level 10 closed out the field was in hand-for-hand play. The players took a quick break and came back to play five hands. Zhao snuck into the top of the counts on the last hand when she eliminated the bubble boy..
The players that didn’t bag any chips reads like a who’s who of poker players. Phil Ivey, Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Selbst, Eli Elizra, Scotty Nguyen, Andy Frankenberger, Mohsin Charania, Leif Force, Scott Clements, Josh Arieh and Annette Obrestad are just a few that busted today.
Force was one of two 2012 WSOP bracelet winners in the field. Force won Event 3 , $3,000 Heads Up No Limit Hold’em/Pot Limit Omaha. Nick Jickov was the other player trying of a second bracelet, he won Event 5, $1,500 Pot Limit Hold’em. Jickov is still alive however with 37,500.
One of today’s signature hands occurred between Phil Hellmuth and Chris Tryba. We arrived on the scene to find Hellmuth saying, “I don’t remember you from Adam, buddy,” and leaving the table. Tryba was all smiles and said he’d been waiting eight years to put a bad beat on Hellmuth.
Tryba’s history with Hellmuth apparently occurred way back in 2004 when Hellmuth put a bad beat on Tryba and then added insult to injury with some needling. Hellmuth held 
and Tryba had 
and spiked a king on the flop. Hellmuth never caught up and the two exchanged some words as were arriving.
Arieh began the day with high spirits; he was double dipping for the first time in the WSOP. He had made Day 2 in Event 11 ($5,000 Seven Card Stud) and had two hours of play before his restart began. Sadly, he busted in Event 10 after about 15 minutes and then returned and busted this tournament about 10 minutes later.
Day 2 will have cards in the air for the restart promptly at 1 p.m. PST. The schedule calls for them to play down to a final table or ten levels, whichever should happen first. Follow all the WSOP action live on PokerNews.com
