Today, Vanessa Selbst joined the PokerNews Podcast just before her Round of 32 match in Event 12: $10,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em. She discusses some of her matches, a World Series of Poker bathroom situation and of course the carnage that was Vanessa Rousso's house-warming party. Check it out!
We got to the table as Team PokerStars pro Humberto Brenes was heads up with his opponent on the turn with the board reading . Brenes had bet out 2,000, and his opponent raised to 4,000. Brenes called, and the river came the . Brenes checked to his opponent, who thought for about 20 seconds before checking as well. As soon as he checked, Brenes said "send me the money" and showed . Indeed he was right, as his opponent showed for a missed flush draw. Brenes is up to 36,000 after the hand.
After losing most of his stack to Alex Freiberg (who made quad sevens), JC Tran got his remaining chips in the middle with against an opponent's . The board ran out , and Tran made his way to the rail.
Freiberg, meanwhile, is among the chip leaders with close to 70,000 in chips. He's joined at the table by Eric Buchman, another one of our leaders here in Level 11.
We mentioned earlier that the toughest table was 425, with Michal Mizrachi, Matt Glantz, JC Tran, and our chip leader Eric Buchman. Well Glantz has since busted, as did the player in seat 9. That seat has now been filled by Isaac Haxton, who is bringing his 42,000 to the table, adding yet another tough player to the mix.
Jonathan Little, who finished 26th in the $1,500 Limit Hold'em event in 2006, just exited this one short of the money. Little posted the following on Twitter moments ago: "Out. I ran pretty awful for the last 30 minutes. I'll play another event tomorrow."
Tom Cage came into the day as the big chip leader, coming in with a monster stack of over 50,000. However, we have yet to see Cage win a pot all day, and his stack has shrunk to under 20,000. We are on a break in a couple of minutes, so maybe Cage will be able to gather himself, and start on the comeback trail after.
