Tough Table Draw

Over at Table #3 we found Phil Helmuth taking his seat. Among the players at his table are David Vamplew, Sebatian Saffari, and Barry Woods. Combined these four players have almost $15,000,000 in tournament winnings. Even though $12,641,603 of those dollars come from Helmuth this table is still one of the tougher draws we have found today.

Cody's Second Barrel Does the Job

Level 2 : 25/50, 0 ante
Jake Cody
Jake Cody

Jake Cody bubbled the $10,000 Heads Up Championship Event yesterday, and in doing so relinquished his crown. He's jumped right back on the horse today and his stack is in the black so far.

He was three-way to a {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{k-Clubs} flop and his 475 bet was called by one opponent. The turn came {q-Hearts} and Cody's 1,150 bet was good enough to force a fold out of his opponent.

Ivey Making His Presence Known

Level 2 : 25/50, 0 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

There are few poker players who draw a crowd like Phil Ivey, and with him sitting close to the rail today, a group of people have plopped down to watch the young professional play.

Most recently we caught him being involved in a three way pot from middle position. With around 900 already in the pot all three players were witness to a {9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop. It was here that a player in early position checked and Ivey Quickly bet out 700. The last player to act pushed in 1,700 for a raise and the early position player folded. With out hesitation Ivey moved all in for 4,000. Ivey's opponent then went into the tank, pondering what hands he could beat and what Ivey could be doing in this spot. After a minute or two Ivey's opponent deposited the call.

Ivey turned over {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} for a pair of aces while his opponent dishearteningly showed the table {J-Spades}{j-Clubs}. The {a-Diamonds} on the turn sealed the deal and Ivey was going to be awarded the pot, once the meaningless {8-Hearts} fell on the river.

Ivey now sits with around 8,000 and looks to make a good run today.

Scott Seiver has doubled up thanks to pocket kings and a hero calling opponent.

He was heads up to a {5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop and faced a 1,850 bet from a female opponent. He moved all-in for 4,300 and after a while she said, "I don't have much" and called with {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.

Seiver opened {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} and the board ran out {2-Spades}{5-Hearts}.

"At least the turn made it interesting," said the female player as she looked own at her short stack.

Somerville Sold on Big Slick

Level 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

Yevgeniy Timoshenko started a recent hand out by opening from under the gun for 125. Action folded around to Jason Koon who made the call. The table then folded around to Jason Somerville in the cut-off who repopped it to 525. The blinds folded and Timoshenko went into tank mode, for some pondering. After a few moments of contemplation Timoshenko three-bet to 1,125. Koon folded, and Somerville waited a few seconds before making a bet of 5,000 that would put Timoshenko all in. Timoshenko made the call and cards were tabled.

Timoshenko: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Somerville: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

Both players had a great chance to win this pot, but a {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{k-Hearts} flop put the hand drastically in Somerville's favor. Unless Timoshenko could hit the queen of spades his day would be done. He received no such luck as the board ran out {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}.

Somerville now sits with around 9,500 in chips.

Duhamel and Ivey News

Level 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

Jonathan Duhamel's table is down to five players already but the former WSOP Main Event champ is one of the short stacks on 2,200 after losing a pot to his neighbour.

The river was out to leave a {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} board and Duhamel check-raised his opponent's 375 bet up to 1,075. His opponent tank-called with {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and it was good as Duhamel only had {7-}{x-}.

It's looking ominous for Phil Ivey's opponents as he's running good.

He was in the big blind and called the small blind's raise to 125 and the 150 c-bet on the {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop. The turn came {j-Diamonds} and Ivey called a 400 bet before both players checked the {a-Clubs} river. The small blind opened {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} but was tripped up by Ivey's {10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. He's up to 7,700.

Barry Greenstein

An unknown player opened from under the gun to make it 125. Barry Greenstein who was next to act raised to 450. Action folded around to the under the gun player who three-bet to 1,450. Greenstein countered by moving all in, a call was made and cards were tabled.

Greenstein: {A-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Opponent: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
