Blom Busts a Shorty

A player went all-in from under-the-gun for his last 2,100. Action folded around to Viktor Blom on the button, who called. The blinds got out of the way and hands were revealed.

Blom: {K-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Opponent: {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}

The {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Diamonds} board left Blom with a pair of eights, which was good enough to scoop the pot and eliminate his opponent.

Blom's stack has been slowly but surely climbing throughout the day. He is up to 65,000.

Mizrachi Can't Connect

Michael Mizrachi was just relieved of a good portion of his stack.
Michael Mizrachi was just relieved of a good portion of his stack.

George Lind opened for 1,700, Michael Mizrachi raised to 4,500 and the player in the small blind moved all in after some thought he moved all in. Lind tanked for a little bit and then folded. Mizrachi asked for a count - it was 18,600 - and he called.

Small Blind: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades}
Mizrachi: {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}

The board ran {4-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {8-Spades} {K-Spades} and Mizrachi sent a bunch of his stack across the table.

The Media Table

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

Currently seated directly in front of us are James Dempsey, Tristan Wade and Adam Junglen just joined the the table.

"Good luck making me fold," Dempsey said as he returned from the break. We don't expect his short stack to last much longer. It looks like it's either double up or bust out for Dempsey.

Matusow Runs into Set

Action began with a player on the cutoff, who raised to 1,550. He was called by another player on the button and Mike Matusow squeezed for 3,025 more. The big blind got out of the way and both of his opponent's called.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Matusow asked to see his opponent's remaining stacks. He then announced, "All in," for about 20,000 total.

The player on the cutoff insta-called off the rest of his stack and the player on the button folded.

Matusow: {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts} for top-pair and a gut shot.
Cutoff: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for a set of nines.

The {4-Diamonds} turn and {J-Diamonds} river bricked for Matusow and he was forced to double his opponent up.

Matusow is back down to 11,000.

James Dempsey (not pictured with Marc Convey's glasses)
James Dempsey (not pictured with Marc Convey's glasses)

Our decorated blogger Marc Convey just stopped by our media desk to say his goodbyes and such as his shift was over. Directly in front of our table is James Dempsey. Convey and Dempsey are pretty close friends from spending time together all over European poker circuit. Convey said, "Hey, I like your glasses. I've got an identical pair."

Dempesy grinned, took them off and said how much he liked them. After a moment Convey opened his bag to pull out his sunglasses to compare and low and behold - they weren't there.

After letting Convey sweat for a few moments Dempsey smiled and said, "I took them out of your bag."

"You cheeky bastard," Convey said.

Dempsey returned the glasses and everyone had a good laugh.
