Collins Endures Tank

Phil Collins
Phil Collins

On a final board of {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, Phil Collins bet 6,500. His opponent was tanking and began talking to himself as he was thinking through the hand. The dealer wound up calling the floor and wanted clarification on the new rule about talking about your hand when heads up. Because Collins had chips behind, the player could talk about his hand, but would lose the option to raise. "Don't worry, I'm not thinking about raising," said the player.

Collins' opponent then tanked for a bit longer and several minutes had now gone by. Another player at the table not in the hand called the clock on the tanker, which the player who was thinking didn't seem to take kindly to. "Really? Really?" he said. "You're going to call the clock on me?"

"You've had sufficient time to think," the man who called the clock said.

The clock was issued and after about 45 seconds, the player folded, but didn't look happy about having to give up the pot.

"You can breathe now," the player said to Collins after folding. He then said, "I thoroughly enjoyed making you sweat, though."
