Stein Sent On His Way

Sam Stein
Sam Stein

We don't know exactly how it played out, but what we do know is Sam Stein was all in and at risk against Patrick Smith in a huge pot preflop.

Stein: {J-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Smith: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The winner of this pot was going to have around 350,000 in chips jump rocketing whoever won to the top of the chip counts. Once everything was set the dealer spread a {10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop giving Smith a huge advantage going to the turn and the river.

A {8-Hearts} on the turn was not the card Stein needed, a jack and a jack only could save Stein. The {A-Diamonds} on the river made it official and Stein's tournament life was over.

McGill Makes it Happen

With a {7-}{3-}{A-} flop in the middle of the table we saw Justin McGill raising a bet made by his opponent in early position. Both players got into a raising match until McGill's opponent was all in. This pot would be over 450,000; one of the biggest of the day so far. McGill however did not have much to worry about as he flipped over {3-}{3-}. McGill's opponent had a lot to worry about as his {a-}{K-} was light-years behind.

A {4-} on the turn and a {Q-} on the river made things offical and McGill has just jumped toward the top of the chip counts.

More Chips for Wheeler

From under the gun, David Peters raised to 12,000. Jason Wheeler flatted from the next seat and the big blind also called to take the {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop. The big blind checked, Peters bet 16,500, Wheeler called and the big blind folded.

The turn was the {9-Clubs} and both Peters and Wheeler checked to see the {Q-Clubs} land on the river. After Peters checked, Wheeler bet 31,000. Peters folded and Wheeler showed the {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} for a set of fours.

Dolan's Downswing

John Dolan just called the all in of a short stacked opponent on a {5-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop with {a-}{Q-}. Dolan held a good chance of taking the pot down, as long as he could avoid another heart finding its way on to the board seeing as his opponent had {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

Indeed a heart did fall on the turn with the {10-Hearts}, eliminating Dolan's chances of winning the hand. A meaningless {j-Hearts} hit on the river just for good measure and Dolan was forced to send off about 70,000 of his stack.

Clock on #438

With a {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop spread we saw Gregg Wilkinson check-call a bet of 42,000 from Amir Lehavot.

We saw a change of pace on the turn with Wilikinson betting out 60,500 instead of checking. Action was then on Lehavot who went deep into the tank. Eyeballing the pot, his opponent's stack, his own stack; it appeared that Lehavot was taking every option into consideration. He might have gotten lost in it, and eventually after enough time had passed the clock was called. This is second time today that the clock has been called on Lehavot. Right when it seemed like his time was going to expire Lehavot gave the hand away and now sits around 160,000.
