Elezra Crushing, Hastings Done

Eli Elezra
Eli Elezra

Eli Elezra is all smiles after he just busted Brian Hastings. Elezra raised to 1,800 and two seats to his left Hastings moved all-in for around 13,000 chips. The player to his left tanked for a bit before folding and Elezra said, "I don't like it, and my hand is not that strong", as he made the call. Hastings smiled and said he wasn't that strong either as we witnessed the following showdown.

Eli Elezra{A-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Brian Hastings{J-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The board ran out {Q-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs} giving Elezra another knock out. "I came to this table with 1,800", he smiled while stacking his chips. After chipping up Elezra called with {K-}{5-} after someone had decided to limp. "You know how I like to see flops", he added with a smile. The flop brought {K-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} and Elezra got all his chips into the pot against {A-Spades}{A-} for a 45,000 chip pot. His hand held up and after that he kept chipping up by busting some short stacks. The only player he hasn't been winning against was the player on his left, Adam Wessley.

"This fucking guy on my left has 80 dimes and all I wanted was to cover him!", Elezra laughed. Adam Wessley and Elezra had been battling, because the high stakes professional pointed out he got bluffed by ten high earlier. After counting his stack Elezra shouted, "Booom! Now I wanna see him messing with me!", as both players started laughing again. Elezra is up to 87,000 chips and one of the chip leaders of the tournament.

Lee Calls Marchese Down to the Death

Tom Marchese could not shake off Mike Lee
Tom Marchese could not shake off Mike Lee

Tom Marchese has just fired three of his best barrels into the welcoming arms of Mike Lee, and he is no longer ranked amongst the remaining 750 players in this tournament.

We have been told that Lee opened up the action before calling a Marchese three-bet. The board ran out {Q-} {10-} {4-} {4-} {2-} and Marchese fired three-barrels including a 5,000 river shove, and Lee called all the way with 3rd pair - {6-} {6-}. Marchese was holding {A-} {J-} for the missed draw.

Maria Ho Removes Phil Ivey From The Equation

Phil Ivey - out
Phil Ivey - out

The 2011 World Series of Poker missed the great man Phil Ivey, so it is good to see him back in action in 2012. Unfortunately, Phil Ivey fans will have to wait for another event to see some Ivey action, after he was eliminated at the soft and tender hands of Maria Ho.

Ho raised to 450 in the hijack seat, Ivey jammed for 1,600 in the small blind and Ho made the call.

Ho{J-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}
Ivey{10-Hearts} {10-Spades}

So Ivey was hoping to fade a jack, and the flop of {9-Spades} {3-Spades} {2-Hearts} did just that. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn added any eight to Maria Ho's outs and lo and behold the {8-Diamonds} turned up on the river. Then a mini drama as the dealer mucked Maria Ho's hand! The players on the table told the dealer that Ho had hit a straight, and the two cards were retrieved from the muck.

Ivey is out and Ho now has 10,700.

Ylon Schwartz Has Been Eliminated

Ylon Schwartz during happier times
Ylon Schwartz during happier times

The 2008 WSOP Main Event 4th place finisher, Ylon Schwartz, is out. There was a 350 raise and a cold caller before Schwartz moved all-in for 2,700 more holding {A-} {K-}. One player folded and one player called, holding {9-Clubs} {8-Clubs}, and the board ran out with a sufficient number of clubs to send Schwartz away from the table and out of the competition.
