Bjorin's Nines Hold

Chris Bjorin
Chris Bjorin

Chris Bjorin had an opponent all in and on the ropes with the {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. His opponent held a weaker pair in the {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Bjorin's nines held up. He busted the player and moved to 185,000 in chips.

Bjorin is one of the most, if not the most, successful player left in the field. The long-time Swedish professional has two World Series of Poker gold bracelets and 62 WSOP cashes, which is tied for fifth all time with Humberto Brenes. Because Brenes also cashed in this event, the two remain tied.

Bjorin has over $5.2 million in live tournament earnings and his two bracelets came from 1997 in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha and the 2000 $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em events. He's also final tabled the 2009 WSOP Europe Main Event and numerous other WSOP events.

Just this year, Bjorin made the final table of Event 4: $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low 8-or-Better and took second place for nearly $125,000.
