Jonathan Duhamel flew through his second round match, but he found a gritty opponent in Darren Kramer in round three. Kramer wore the Team PokerStars Pro down and just dealt the final blow in a hand that started in the last level.
Duhamel opened to 1,600 and called when Kramer three-bet to 1,800. The flop fell . Kramer set Duhamel in for his last 9,000. Call.
Kramer: for bottom set and nut-flush draw.
Duhamel: for a pair of eights and open-ended straight draw.
The board ran out to make the Canadian's straight but the same card gave his South African opponent the flush.
"Of course I'm through," said a confident and slightly jesting Jonathan Duhamel.
The Team PokerStars Pro told us that his opponent (Noah Boeken) moved all-in for his last 15 big blinds with eight-nine off-suit. Duhamel called with ace-queen and found a match for both of them on the flop.
Despite rocketing out to an early lead against Aaron Jones, Phil Ivey couldn't close the deal. Jones made a great comeback and downed the eight-time bracelet holder.
