Andrews Doubles, Quach Decimated

Cherish Andrews- Your New Chip Leader
Cherish Andrews- Your New Chip Leader

Cherish Andrews raised to 105,000 from early position only to have Huy Quach move all in on her from the big blind. Andrews called and Quach had her covered by a single orange t5,000 chip.

Andrews: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Quach: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}

Andrews' large rail erupted into screams of excitement when the flop came {5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, giving Andrews a set of jacks. Andrews filled up on the {5-Clubs} turn and the board finished with the {8-Diamonds}.

This pot left Quach forced to be all in on the next hand.

Huy Quach - 9th Place
Huy Quach - 9th Place

Huy Quach was forced all in with the ante after losing the previous hand to Cherish Andrews. Jonathan Poche called on the button and Maximilian Lehmanski checked his option in the big blind.

The flop was {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Spades} and Lehmanski checked to Poche who bet 80,000. Lehmanski folded and the hands were tabled:

Poche: {A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
Quach: {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Poche flopped two pair and Quach did not improve on the turn and the river. Quach will collect $49,333 for his ninth place finish.

Joe Cada opened to 100,000 from the cutoff and Jonathan Poche responded by announcing all in from the button. It folded back to Cada who thought for a few seconds before calling. Cada showed {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and was relieved to find out he was ahead against Poche's {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}.

The flop was {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Cada retained his lead and had gained hearts to make the flush as well. The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and the river brought the {K-Hearts}, completing Cada's heart flush and sending Poche off of the Pavilion stage.

Michael Aron Eliminated in 7th Place ($113,618)

Michael Aron - 7th Place

Cherish Andrews opened to 125,000 from early position and Michael Aron replied by moving all in for about 1,200,000 from the cutoff. It folded to Joe Cada in the big blind and after a moment he announced that he was all in as well. Andrews folded and the hands were tabled with Aron's tournament life on the line:

Aron: {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Cada: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Cada was in the lead and kept it so on the flop of {K-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Cada drilled the {10-Clubs} on the turn, sealing Aron's fate. The meaningless {Q-Clubs} came on the river and Aron was sent home in 7th place.

Maximilian Lehmanski Eliminated in 6th Place ($113,618)

Maximilian Lehmanski - 6th Place
Maximilian Lehmanski - 6th Place

A short-stacked Maximilian Lehmanski moved all in from the hijack for his last 415,000 and Carter Phillips three-bet shoved on the button. The blinds folded and the hands were exposed to the world:

Lehmanski: {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Phillips: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Lehmanski was looking for an ace but did not find it on the {J-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop.

The turn gave Lehmanski some more outs when the {K-Spades} came, but it was to no avail as the {10-Diamonds} sealed his fate on the river.

Najib Kamand Eliminated in 5th Place ($153,578)

Carter Phillips opened to 160,000 from the button only to have Najib Kamand move all in for his last 1,350,000 from the small blind. Tom Chambers was in the big blind and also announced that he was all in. Phillips folded and the hands were shown:

Kamand: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Chambers: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Chambers was ahead with the tens and stayed the way when the dealer spread out a flop of {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Fourth street brought the {4-Clubs} and Kamand was one card away from elimination.

The {7-Clubs} was of no help to Kamand and he was sent home in 5th place to find solace in his $153,578 in tournament winnings.

Phillips Scores Huge Double Up

Carter Phillips Doubles Up
Carter Phillips Doubles Up

Tom Chambers opened in the cutoff to 225,000 and it folded to Carter Phillips who moved all in from the big blind for 2,440,000. Chambers called and showed {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. Phillips had {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and we were off to the races.

Phillips jumped into the lead on the {Q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop by pairing his queen. It wouldn't be a race without a sweat, however, as the turn brought the {K-Hearts} giving Chambers outs to make a straight. The river bricked out though, bringing the {5-Hearts}.

This hand was a key double up for Phillips while crippling Chambers.

Cherish Andrews Eliminated in 4th Place ($210,083)

Cherish Andrews - 3rd Place
Cherish Andrews - 3rd Place

Joe Cada opened to 205,000 from the cutoff. Cherish Andrews shipped all in for about 1,900,000 from the button and it folded back to Cada who snap called.

Andrews: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Cada: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

Andrews kept her lead on the {2-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop. Cada was still searching for an ace or a king but instead the turn was the {4-Hearts}, giving him four more outs to make the wheel.

The dealer pounded the table. The tension in the room was almost tangible as the dealer grabbed the top card in the deck and flipped it over.

The {3-Diamonds}.

Cada's rail absolutely exploded with shouts of elation while Andrew's friends merely hung their heads. Andrews will collect $210,083 in winnings. This hand propelled Cada into a massive chip lead.

Tom Chambers Eliminated in 3rd Place ($290,875)

Tom Chambers - 3rd Place
Tom Chambers - 3rd Place

Carter Phillips raised to 200,000 on the button and Tom Chambers moved all in from the small blind. Joe Cada peered down at his hand and re-shipped over the top from the big blind. Phillips mucked and the hands were shown to the crowd:

Cada: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Chambers: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}

Cada was in a huge lead with his kings and Chambers was in need of an eight or a miracle flop to give him the outs necessary to stay alive. The flop came {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and was of no help to Chambers. The {5-Hearts} rolled off on the turn and the {J-Clubs} completed the board sending Tom Chambers home in 3rd place.

We Are Heads Up

Joe Cada - Chip Leader Heads Up
Joe Cada - Chip Leader Heads Up

Only two players remain here in Event 31: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em. Holding the big stack is 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Joe Cada.

His opponent also holds one bracelet, winning Event #16: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em / Six Handed at the 2010 WSOP.

This is not the first time these two have tangled on the felt, either. Back in 2010 both players made a deep run in the 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $25,000 High Roller event. Joe Cada was able to win a race and eliminate Carter Phillips in 12th place. Cada went on to finish 11th in this event.

This is truly a clash of the titans as both players vie for their second WSOP bracelet. If Cada can grasp a win here he will be the first Main Event champion to add a second bracelet to his wrist since Carlos Mortensen. Phillips on the other hand would love to add to his poker resume that he defeated a WSOP Main Event champion heads up for his second bracelet.
