O'Brien Takes the High & Tryba Takes the Low

Dan O'Brien was all in on fourth street and up against two players, including Chris Tryba.

O'Brien: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} / {J-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} / {8-Diamonds}
Tryba: {7-Diamonds}{5-Spades} / {6-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} / {4-Spades}
Seat 3: (x-x) / {9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

When Tryba hit an ace on fifth, he put out a bet that drove the player in Seat 3 from the hand. "You got aces?" O'Brien asked.

"I do now," Tryba said when he paired on sixth.

"I hope I get at least half," O'Brien said headed into seventh. Luckily for him, he caught an eight on the river for two pair and his tournament continued.

One For the Ladies

We mentioned yesterday that the ladies were out in full force for this event. At last count, we still have 6 of them left. The most recent mover of that contingent is Xuan Liu, the charming Canadian pro.

Liu is quickly making her mark as one of the more formidable players in the game, regardless of gender. In the last two years, she's made two EPT final tables including a fourth-place finish in the most recent PCA. Those two cashes combined to earn her well over $1 million. She also won an IPT side event in San Remo, and a little win in an 8-game tournament hints at her mixed-game prowess, too.

Indeed, Liu is doing good work again here today. Our last check (about an hour ago) had her down in the danger zone with just about her starting stack of 4,500. Things have changed. We heard a seat open call at her table, and we hurried over to see her stacking up the chips of her recently departed opponent. That pot moves her all the way back up to 24,000, and she's back in the game with an average chip stack once again.

Sexton Multitabling

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

We missed him while he was gone. Mike Sexton just stepped away from the table for an orbit or so once again. Apparently, he still has this other poker game to get to.

Sexton is still alive in Event #3, the half-and-half NLHE/PLO heads-up event. After defeating Justin Bonomo earlier today, Sexton drew Andy Seth in the Round of 32, and he's just dispatched of him with a quickness.

Sexton is on to the Round of 16, and he's still doing quite well over here in Event #4, as well.

Poker Hall of Famers Seated Side by Side

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante

Table 407 has developed to house quite the formidable lineup. It not only plays host to Jan Fisher, Steve Billirakis and Owais Ahmed, but also to two Poker Hall of Famers, Linda Johnson and Mike Sexton, who are seated in Seats 1 and 2 respectively.

If you recall, Johnson was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame last year alongside Barry Greenstein, while Sexton was the sole inductee in 2009.
