Turner Emerging Leader, Despite Setback

We don't know exactly how the betting went, but Jon Turner managed to get his opponent all in and at risk holding {Q-}{Q-}. Unfortunately for Turner his opponent possessed {A-}{A-}.

The board came {A-}{3-}{10-}{10-}{6-} and with that Turner was forced to send a small chunk of his giant stack away. Turner sits with about 230,000 and looks to be the current chip leader.

Day 1's Leader in the Middle of the Pack

Sameer Al Janedi seemed to have gotten low on chips and pushed all in from second position for around 14,000 after the first position player limped in. The table folded around to Men Nguyen in middle position and he made the call. The rest of the table folded back to the initial limper who moved all in for around 35,000 more. Nguyen was visible displeased and folded {A-Spades}{j-Spades} face up.

Al Janedi: {K-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Opponent: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The board came {9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{A-} and Al Janedi was awarded his triple up. Nguyen missed out and would have had the best hand, sling-shotting himself to the top of the counts.

Turner Continues to Fall

We found Jon Turner staring down at a board of {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{9-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. Turner checked to his opponent who shoved 30,000 into the middle. Turner thought for over a minute before tossing in a call.

Turner's opponent showed {A-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for trip jacks and Turner mucked his hand. Turner is currently sitting on about 81,500.

Gimbel Doubles Through McDonald

We caught up see a board reading {2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. Mike McDonald moved Harrison Gimbel all in and Gimbel sat pondering the decision.

After a moment, Gimbel announced a call.

"Good call," replied McDonald, showing {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for a pair of fours. Gimbel tabled {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} for two pair and was able to score a key double up.

Kanit Climbs

Mustapha Kanit
Mustapha Kanit

Mustapha Kanit is another emerging stack in the field. We recently found him call the all in of a shortstacked player with {A-}{k-}. Kanit's opponent had {7-}{9-} and was in trouble.

The board came {5-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and with that Kanit added more to his mountain of chips.

Schwartz and Williams Collide

Jeff Williams bet out 13,500 on a board of {K-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. Action was up to Justin Schwartz who thought about his decision.

"A queen good, yellowsub?" Schwartz asked Williams using his online moniker.

Schwartz eventually decided that a queen was good and made the call, showing {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}. Williams showed {J-}{10-} then flung his cards to the muck.
