Defending Versus Dang

The all-in bets have slowed down a bit, but here are a couple of recent hands resulting in some less dramatic chip movement. Both involved players in the blinds defending against late-position pressure from Yen Dang.

In the first, Dang raised to 25,000 from the button and got one caller in Debbie Pechac in the big blind. The flop arrived {K-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}, and Pechac led for 60,000. Dang called. The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and again Pechac bet out, this time 65,000. Dang called once more.

The river brought the {8-Hearts} and a 100,000-chip bet from Pechac, and this time Dang gave up her hand.

Soon after Dang was involved in another hand in which she'd opened from late position and got a caller from the blinds, this time Jan Howard in the big blind. The flop came {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}, and as Pechac had done before, Howard led with a bet of 35,000 which Dang called. Howard then checked the {9-Spades} turn, and when Dang bet 60,000, Howard called.

Howard checked the {K-Clubs} river, and a wary Dang checked behind. Howard showed {Q-Spades}{5-Spades} for a queen-high flush, and Dang let her hand go.
