Lucky River Saves Baldwin

Bobby Baldwin
Bobby Baldwin

The 1978 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Bobby Baldwin just got himself a very lucky double up in order to stay alive in this event.

Brian Rast raised under the gun to 375,000 and Baldwin called in late position. The flop came down {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Rast checked to Baldwin who moved all in for 1,730,000. Rast called.

Rast turned over {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} and had a commanding lead over Baldwin's {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. The turn was the {6-Hearts}, and on the river Baldwin needed to catch a king or a queen in order to stay alive. The river was the {K-Clubs} and Baldwin gave himself another chance in this event with just 16 players remaining.
