Donald Vogel Leads The Pack With Money Bubble Looming

Daniel Negreanu - above average in chips and looking to make a deep run!
Daniel Negreanu - above average in chips and looking to make a deep run!

Yesterday marked the beginning of Event #56: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em. As expected, the event drew another massive field as has been the pattern in the lower buy-in No-Limit Hold'em tournaments. By the end of the fourth level, 2,798 hopefuls had registered for a shot at a gold bracelet. However, when all was said and done - only 305 would remain with Donald Vogel standing tall as our Day 1 chip leader (145,200).

Some notables who took a shot, but eventually fell short and busted during Day 1 include Matt Affleck, Freddy Deeb, Vanessa Rousso, Joe Cada, Liv Boeree, Terrence Chan, Andrew Lichtenberger and recent two-time bracelet winner Vanessa Selbst, who met her end after being crippled by an opponent's pocket tens.

Those fortunate enough to survive (and thrive) during Day 1 include Will Failla (78,300), Matt Brady (65,300), Cherish Andrews (56,900), Kennii Nguyen (47,000), Jennifer Leigh (33,400), Peter Eastgate (24,200), Jeff Madsen (23,400) and Daniel Negreanu (57,200), who hopped into the event shortly after busting from the One Drop Event.

Play is scheduled to resume at 1:00 PM PST. With just eight more eliminations until the money bubble bursts - you can be sure the action will be tense as we kick things off during this Day 2! Be sure to stick with us here at PokerNews as we bring you all the action from the floor!
