Shak Loses a Bunch of Chips

Dan Shak has just lost a large portion of his chips during a hand that went down like this. A player in middle position opened the action with a raise to 400. Shak was in late position and he made the call, along with the player on the button.

On the {q-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop, the middle position player continued his betting, firing out 1,300. Shak made the call, while the button player got out of the way. The {k-Spades} on the turn would see Shak's opponent shove for 1,200 and Shak would make the call.

Shak: {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

Shak had plenty of draws, but his opponent had the better draw on both sides of the pot, managing to scoop with the flush for the high end of the pot and a sixty-five low for the other half of the pot.

Ready for More

Level 5 : 150/300, 0 ante

The players are back from their dinner break and ready for more action. Two more levels and we will head on our final break of the night.

Greenstein Wins on the Turn

The player in the under the gun position flicked out enough to limp and then cards went into the muck from around the table until it was on Barry Greenstein in the cutoff. He also limped and with a check from Todd Brunson in the big blind, the dealer would spread a {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop across the felt.

All three players checked the flop and a {5-Spades} hit the turn. The under the gun player limped here and Greenstein bet 600. Brunson called and it was back on the player who checked. He would throw out a raise to 1,200 and then Greenstein would pop it to 4,200. It was too much for Brunson as he got out of the way, while the check-raiser decided to let his hand go too.

Before Greenstein raked in his new chips, he tabled {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and left his other two cards face down.

Scotty Chipping Up

Scotty Nguyen has just taken down a handy little pot without having to go to showdown and it played out like so. Folded to the player in the small blind, they would flick out enough to make the call. Nguyen checked from the big blind and a {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop would be dealt.

The small blind led for 700 here and then Nguyen, beer in hand, raised it up to 2,200. His opponent called and a {6-Hearts} hit the turn. This time when the small blind checked, Nguyen would splash out a bet of 5,600. It was enough to see Nguyen's opponent go into the tank, eventually folding and sending the pot to Nguyen.
