Viffer Pulls Ninety-Six

Level 2 : 75/150, 25 ante

David "Viffer" Peat opened to 400 from under the gun and received a call from David Williams in the next seat over. The rest of the table folded and both players took two cards at the draw.

Peat took a look at his hand the tossed 1,500 into the center. Williams called and Peat spread {9-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{3-}. Williams mucked his hand and Peat was awarded the pot.

"I Squeezed the Wrong Card!"

Level 2 : 75/150, 25 ante

Barry Greenstein opened the betting with a raise to 300 from under the gun. It folded to Justin Bonomo who called from the small blind. Michael Binger made it 1,400 to go and Greenstein quickly called. Bonomo got out of the way and the two were heads up to the draw.

Binger stood pat and Greenstein took one. Binger quickly tapped the table and Greenstein fired 3,400 into the middle. Binger looked pained by this bet and sat for over a minute pondering a call. At one point Binger picked up enough chips to call and threw them from one hand to another.

"Does it count if they're in the air?" Greenstein asked the dealer jokingly.

After this Binger threw his chips in for the call.

"Well, now I've gotta squeeze," said Greenstein.

"I thought it might be that," replied Binger.

Greenstein looked at his cards and announced a four across. Quickly after, however, he said "Oh, wait, I squeezed the wrong one!". The table burst into laughter and Greenstein went on to squeeze the correct card this time.

Greenstein showed {9-}{6-}{3-}{2-} to the table and then announced that he was holding a three-across. He showed the {7-Clubs} and Binger flung his hand into the muck.

Deeb Cashes First Lammer

When we arrived at the table, all of Shaun Deeb's chips were in the middle, with two rebuy lammers behind. There were two other players in the hand, and the first player went all in over the top. The other folded, and Deeb announced "nine-eight" for a nine low. However, his opponent announced "second" for the second nuts, which is {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Deeb mucked his hand, and cashed in his first lammer.

Anybody But Phil Ivey!

Level 1 : 50/100, 25 ante

We saw Shaun Deeb walking around the floor a bit, and when he returned to his table, he and David "Viffer" Peat started talking about what sounded like a draft bet they had going on.

"I told you, you can pick anybody but Phil Ivey," Viffer said to Deeb. "But stop walking around the floor you can see who has a weak table and I can't."

"I'm not seeing who has a weak table I'm just seeing who's in," Deeb replied.

"You know who's in just pick 10 people. Anyone but Ivey!" Viffer shot back.

Deeb came right back with, "I don't think there are even 10 people in the tournament I want to pick!"

Both Deeb and Viffer's tables, which are side by side, got a good laugh out of that last comment. They didn't reveal any picks out loud, but if we hear of any, we will let you know.

Bellande Loses One

Level 1 : 50/100, 25 ante

We caught up after the draw to see Jean-Robert Bellande's opponent peer at his cards and toss 1,000 into the middle. Bellande quickly called and his opponent showed {J-}{8-}{7-}{6-}{5-} for a jack-eight. Bellande flung his hand into the muck and the pot was pushed to the opposite end of the table.

A Few Players Diving Right In

Level 1 : 50/100, 25 ante

Most of the field has elected to start with 10,000 and hang onto their two lammers in case they bust out early, but there are a handful of players who have already traded in their two blue lammers for four Pink T5,000 chips. That list includes:

David "Bakes" Baker, Huck Seed, Billy Baxter(who are all at the same table), Daniel Negreanu, Shawn Sheikhan, and Josh Brikis.

Cunningham Bests Grey

Level 1 : 50/100, 25 ante

We caught up to see David Grey and Allen Cunningham both put in 1,200 before the draw. Grey took one while Cunningham opted to stand pat.

Grey shuffled his cards around and took a look at Cunningham before peeking at his hand. Grey checked to Cunningham and Cunningham took one more look at his cards before also checking behind.

Grey threw his hand away almost instantly and Cunningham tabled {10-}{9-}{8-}{6-}{2-} and was able to drag in the pot.

Early Table Of Death

All of these tables are tough, but we noticed one in particular that was packed with familiar faces. We don't recognize the poor soul in seat 1, but the rest of the players at his table are easily recognizable.

Seat 2: George Danzer
Seat 3: Chino Rheem
Seat 4: Justin Bonomo
Seat 5: Michael Binger
Seat 6: Barry Greenstein
