Greg Merson's fans go wild after he pulled off a big bluff.
Greg Merson's fans go wild after he pulled off a big bluff.

Greg Merson had the button at the start of this hand. He limped on the button, and Jesse Sylvia called from the small blind. Jake Balsiger raised to 3.7 million from the big blind, and action fell back on Merson. He called, and Sylvia folded.

The flop came down {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs}, and Balsiger bet 4.5 million. Merson called, and the dealer dealt the {4-Hearts} on the turn. Balsiger took his time, then fired 7.5 million. Merson stood strong and made the call.

The river completed the board with the {6-Spades}, and Balsiger was first up once again. He took his time yet again before firing 13 million. Merson put his head down and played with his chips. After a minute, he announced that he was all in. Balsiger snap-folded, and Merson quickly tabled the {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts} for just queen high.

Hand #219: Greg Merson

Level 38 : 400,000/800,000, 100,000 ante

Greg Merson started the hand with the button, and he limped in. Jesse Sylvia completed from the small blind, Jake Balsiger checked, and the flop came {6-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Sylvia and Balsiger both checked, and Merson tossed out 800,000. Only Balsiger called.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds}, both players checked, and the {10-Hearts} completed the board. Balsiger led out for 2 million, Merson snap-called, and Balsiger showed {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

Merson tabled {8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, and won the pot.
