Less is Moreno

Andrew Moreno opened to 1,100 from the hijack seat, Idan Greenberg three-bet to 3,025 from the big blind, and Moreno made the call. The flop fell {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, and Greenberg led out for 4,275. Moreno called.

The turn was the {7-Hearts}, and Greenberg moved all in for effectively 21,000. Moreno released, and Greenberg picked up the pot.

Donny Dented, Then Dusted

A middle position player raised to 1,600, Donny Mizrachi reraised to 4,075, and when it folded back around the original raiser pushed all in for 5,850 total and Mizrachi quickly called.

Mizrachi turned over {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and his opponent {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, and when the five community cards came {8-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{A-Hearts}, Mizrachi's opponent survived with a set of eights.

That hand knocked Mizrachi down to just over 20,000, and it wasn't long after he'd commit the last of his stack and be eliminated.

Lew Gains

Shannon Shorr raised from middle position and made it 1,300 to see the flop. Johnny Chan called from the button and action was then on Randy Lew. Lew three-bet to 6,100. The big blind folded and it was Shorr's turn again. Shorr took about 25 seconds deciding what he wanted to do, but in the end made the call. Chan got out of the way and it was heads up to the flop.

The flop came {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs} bringing with it a bet of 5,025 from Lew. Shorr sat motionless for a good minutes before ultimately throwing out a call. The dealer then pounded the table and let loose the {Q-Diamonds} on the turn. It was here that Lew continued to be the aggressor and bet 11,325. Shorr again took his time stoic in thought and after about a minute he threw it away.

Hansen Loses Some

Gus Hansen raised it up to 1,000 in early position, and the button called. The player in the small blind raised it up to 5,000, and Hansen came along. The button folded, and the two players went heads up to the flop. They both checked the flop of {3-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, and they both checked the {7-Spades} on the turn. The river brought the {k-Diamonds}, and the small blind checked to Hansen, who fired out 5,500. His opponent called, and Hansen rolled over {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. However, his opponent tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for a winning pair of kings.

After that hand, Hansen drops back down to 56,000.

A Few Updates From the Brasilia Bronze Section

Scott Clements and Doyle Brunson were recently moved from the Pavilion Room over into the Brasilia Room. Almost as quickly as Clements sat down, we noticed he was up out of his chair and making his way out of the tournament room. Brunson, on the other hand, is doing just fine as a rail of fans is steadily growing.

OMGJacksFull

Rebhi Attiyah and Phil Galfond were heads up on a board of {j-Spades}{a-Spades}{3-Spades}{a-Clubs}. Attiyah checked, and Galfond tossed out 5,150. Attiyah called.

The {4-Clubs} completed the board and Attiyah checked again. Galfond tanked, then grabbed a variety of chips, tossing out 13,500. Attiyah committed three orange T5,000 chips, making the call, and Galfond tabled two red jacks.

Attiyah mucked his hand, and Galfond is above 100,000 chips.

Right Engel

Three players including Ari Engel were looking down at a flop of {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. Two fists tapped the table and it was on Engel. Engel bet 3,500 and received two calls.

Fourth street was the {3-Clubs} and both players checked to Engel once again. Engel's second bullet was for 7,500 and two calls were tossed into the middle. Fifth street paired the board with the {7-Clubs} and it checked around to Engel for a third time. He moved 15,000 into the middle and the small blind called. The other player got out of the way and Engel tabled {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for sevens full of tens. His opponent mucked and Engel dragged the pot.

Engel is currently sitting on a stack of about 145,000.
