Diaz Down Today

We walked into the middle of a huge pot between Percy Mahatan and David Diaz, who is competing in the Onnit Last Sticker Standing Competition. There was at least 100,000 in the middle, and the board read {9-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {q-Hearts} . Mahatan had moved all in for around 70,000 before we got to the table, and action was on Diaz. Diaz openly admitted "I have no idea what you have" before letting out a chuckle and tossing his cards away, giving Mahatan the pot.

Diaz, who started the day with 254,000, is down to 215,000 after that hand.

Double Elimination on Table 426

Ricky Markowitz opened with a raise to 11,500 from under the gun. Will Souther called from the next seat over and it folded around to Edmund Chan who moved all in from the small blind. Peter Kamaras moved all in as well from the big blind and Markowitz called.

ESPN cameras swooped in to catch this potential double elimination as Will Souther went into the tank. Souther eventually folded {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} face up and the three hands were tabled with Chan and Kamaras at risk.

Chan: {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs}
Kamaras: {Q-Hearts} {4-Hearts}
Markowitz: {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}

Markowitz jumped into the lead on the {2-Spades} {6-Clubs} {K-Spades} flop but there was a small sweat as Chan paired up on the {9-Diamonds} turn. The {5-Diamonds} bricked out on the river and Chan and Kamaras were sent packing.

After the hand, Souther joked to Markowitz by saying "How do you play that crap?" as Souther folded the same hand.

"All in and call!" came the cry from Table 370 and so we bounded over to the table to find Dag Martin Mikkelsen all in preflop against Jan Kasten. Mikkelsen held {a-Spades} {k-Clubs} and was coming up against Kasten's {q-Spades} {q-Clubs} . It was a classic race that would see Mikkelsen cross the finish line first, with the {a-Diamonds} {k-Spades} {8-Clubs} {k-Hearts} {x-} board ensuring Mikkelsen took the double up.

Jejelowo Lays Down to Ovseyevitz

We missed the fist action by AJ Jejelowo in the small blind but we saw Max Ovseyevitz raise to 17,000 from the big blind. Jejelowo then re-raised to 80,000 and Ovseyevitz thought for a good while.

Ovseyevitz made a bit re-raise, in the neighborhood of 170,000, and Jejelowo folded.

Roberto Luongo Saves His Tournament Life

A short-stacked Roberto Luongo was all in preflop and racing against Kyle Keranan.

Luongo: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}
Keranen: {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}

Luongo was the one at risk and in need of some help, which is exactly what he got on the {10-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {Q-Spades} flop. The {2-Clubs} turn meant Luongo needed to dodge a seven on the river to stay alive, which is what he did when the {Q-Clubs} peeled off.

We caught up to see Anthony Rivera all in before the flop and called by Michael Moreno.

The board ran out {Q-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {8-Hearts} {5-Spades} {8-} and Moreno's pocket aces were able to hold, sending Rivera to the rail and bringing us one spot closer to the money.

Oliveira Out After Missing Outs

Marco Oliveira was just now all in for his last 120,000 or so with {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} and hoping to improve against the {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} of Chance Kornuth.

The flop came {3-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} . "Not bad," said a player from across the table, noting that Oliveira had picked up a flush draw. The turn brought the {8-Hearts} and more murmurs from the players. Now besides hitting an ace or club, Oliveira could survive by making a straight, too.

But the river brought the {5-Diamonds} , and Oliveira has been eliminated. Oliveira was smiling, though, as he shook hands with Kornuth before exiting.

Triple For Mymko

Derek Mymko started the day with just 25,000 in chips and would be needing a double or triple as soon as possible if he wanted to make the money. Well, that's exactly what has just happened.

We arrived at Table 377, with Mymko all in preflop against William Katona and the big-stacked Sean Rice. Mymko watched on as Katona led for 26,000 on the {5-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {10-Spades} flop. Rice got out of the way and the at-risk Mymko and Katona would turn their hands over.

The {q-Diamonds} on the turn was exactly what Mymko was looking for and with the {k-Diamonds} on the river changing nothing, Mymko raked in the triple. At this point, Rice said, "I had a king!"

"Well, thanks!" Mymko said to Katona who saved his life by betting his opponent out of the hand.

Collins Takes An Early Pot

Phil Collins is one of two members of last year's November Nine that are still alive (Sam Holden is the other), and he has just won a nice pot to start the day as he looks for back-to-back main event cashes.

Action started with Daniel Dizenzo raising to 10,000 from the hijack, and it folded to Collins in the big blind. He tossed out a three bet of 30,000, and Dizenzo made the call. The flop ran down {7-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {2-Spades} , and Collins continuation bet to 20,000. Dizenzo made the call, and the turn brought the {8-Hearts} .

Collins tanked for about 90 seconds before deciding what to do, and at one point, Dizenzo confirmed with the dealer that Collins hadn't checked at one point. The dealer said it was still on Collins, and eventually, he slid out a stack of orange T5,000 chips for a bet of 100,000. This represented more then half of his stack, and most of Dizenzo's. He tanked for a good while as well, eventually folding his hand after about three minutes of thinking.

Collins is up to 280,000 after that hand, which is right around the average stack as we approach 700 players.
