Thousands Descend Upon the Rio for Day 1c of the Main Event
Welcome back to the Rio All-Suite and Hotel for continued coverage of the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event. Today is going to be one of the biggest days of the whole summer, with a gigantic field of starry-eyed hopefuls trying their best to secure a spot on Day 2 of the big dance.
Two days ago, on Day 1a, 1,066 players took to the felt. That number increased to 2,114 for yesterday’s Day 1b. Today is set to eclipse those numbers as Day 1c will ensure that another enormous Main Event prize pool is created. Only time will tell how many pony up the $10,000 buy-in today, but early word is that it will be well over 3,000 players.
Regardless of how many entrants partake in today’s action, they will all have the same ambition and that is to survive the night and survive it with plenty of chips. All the players today will be aiming to catch William John at the top of the leader board, as his 266,700-chip stack from Day 1a is still the biggest from the first two starting days.
Some of the biggest names in poker, along with a few thousand fellow dreamers, are all expected to be at the tables by 12:00 PM PST. Who will make it through the night? You will have to tune in to PokerNews’ live coverage to find out! Until then, check out Sarah Grant bringing you all the highlights from the 2012 WSOP Main Event so far.
