Progress For Pilgrim

Dwyte Pilgrim
Dwyte Pilgrim

Dwyte Pilgrim is a name that is well-known around the WSOP and WSOP Circuit. Pilgrim has a number of WSOPC cashes under his belt, and managed four cashes at the 2011 WSOP, including a 15th place finish in a $2,500 No Limit Hold'em event. Pilgrim is seeking another deep run this year, with his eyes on attaining his first gold WSOP bracelet.

We found Pilgrim staring down at a board of {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Spades} and a bet of 125 from his opponent. Pilgrim shuffled his chips before tossing out a raise to 425. The other two players in the hand folded and his opponent from the small blind made the call.

The river brought the {2-Hearts} and Pilgrim's opponent checked. Pilgrim tossed out a large bet of 1,575 and his opponent thought for over a minute before throwing out a call. Pilgrim quickly tabled {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and his opponent shot his hand toward the muck. With that win Pilgrim is now sitting at 6,900.

Selbst Looking For Another

For those who aren't familiar with Vanessa Selbst, shame on you. Selbst has, and continues to be, one of the best and most successful players in the world. Going into the 2012 World Series of Poker Selbst was just shy of having $5 million in tournament winnings. Just under a week ago that all changed as she made the final table of the $1,500 No-Limit Holdem event at this very WSOP. She ended up finishing in 4th place to take home $161,345 in that event and will be looking for similar success here.

Unfortunately for Selbst she hasn't had a great start to the day. We were recently walking by her table and noticed she was involved in a pot with two other opponent's. The board showed {7-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} at this point and Selbst was first to act. She opted to check and the player two to her left bet 1,200. It was then on the player on the button and they moved all in for 3,500. That bet sent Selbst into the tank as she would be putting her tournament life on risk if she made the call. She tanked for around a minute before giving a slight shrug and folding. The original bettor made the call.

Selbst watched the rest of the hand play out with interest, seeing that the all in player had {a-}{10-}, while the other player had {k-}{10-}. The river then rolled off with a {k-}, sending the unlucky player to the rail.

Yang Pulls One In

Jerry Yang
Jerry Yang

2007 World Series of Poker Main Event champion, Jerry Yang is here with us today. We recently caught him on a {2-Spades}{j-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop check-raising a bet from under the gun forcing his opponent to pay 275 to see a turn. His opponent obliged and completed the call.

A {k-Hearts} on the turn brought Yang knuckling the table, his opponent then followed suit with a check as well. The river {6-Clubs} brought the return of action with Yang betting out 250. His opponent then folded fairly quickly.

It's nice to see that the ever reclusive Yang, who has shied away from the poker spotlight after his 2007 win continues to play and enjoy the game that has brought him so much success.
