An Orbit from Kristy Arnett's Table

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante
Kristy Arnett
Kristy Arnett

PokerNews hostess Kristy Arnett made Day 2 of this event with 22,000 in chips and we caught the first orbit at her table, which consists of 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Jerry Yang, WSOP bracelet winner Brian Lemke and fellow bracelet winner Mike "Little Man" Sica.

On the first hand, Arnett was under the gun and raised to 1,800. Everyone folded and she won the pot.

On the second hand, Kenneth O'Donnell raised to 1,800 from middle position and action folded to Arnett in the big blind. She also folded and O'Donnell won the pot. O'Donnell then raised the next hand to 1,800 and won that one as well.

For the fourth hand, Robert Salaburu opened to 2,000 from the cutoff seat and Arnett folded her button. Sica made the call from the small blind and then checked in the dark before the dealer ran out the {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop. Salaburu bet 2,200 and Sica quickly folded.

On the next hand, action folded to Justin Shelton and he moved all in for 13,200. Lemke called from the next seat and then action folded to Sica on the button. He reraised all in for a little over 15,000. When action got back to Lemke, he called the extra little bit and the hands were tabled.

Sica: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Lemke: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Shelton: {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

The flop, turn and river ran out {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Shelton tripled up. Sica was left with 2,200 in chips and Lemke with about 24,000.

Following that hand, Salaburu raised to 1,700 from middle position and Sica reraised all in for 2,100 from the cutoff seat. O'Donnell reshoved from the big blind to put Salaburu at risk and Salaburu snapped.

Salaburu: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Sica: {A-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}
O'Donnell: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Salaburu doubled up. Sica was eliminated in the hand and O'Donnell was left with approximately 18,000 in chips.

After being eliminated, Sica stood up from the table, patted our reporter on the back and said, "Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you."

On the next hand, Lemke raised from early position to 1,800. He was called by Salaburu in the next seat and William Maguire in the cutoff seat. The flop produced the {J-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Lemke fired 2,100. William Maguire folded and Maguire called.

The turn was the {A-Hearts} and Lemke kept his foot on the gas. He bet 2,500 and Maguire quickly gave it up.

On the next hand, Filippos Stavrakis opened to 1,800 and everyone folded. After that, O'Donnell opened to 1,800 and Lemke moved all in from the big blind. O'Donnell folded and it was time for the last hand of the orbit.

Picking up right where she left off an orbit prior, Arnett raised from under the gun to 1,800. Action folded all the way to Salaburu in the big blind. He folded and showed the {A-Hearts}.

Matusow Lets One Go

Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow

Action began with Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, who opened to 1,800 from early position. He found one caller from the player on the button and the blinds folded.

The flop brought {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Matusow c-bet for another 1,800. His opponent quickly called.

The turn fell the {Q-Spades} and Matusow cut out two stacks of chips and double fist-pump bet 4,300. His opponent announced he was all in, which had Matusow's remaining stack of 19,000 covered. Matusow tanked hard - checking and re-checking his cards while counting down his remaining stack. He eventually shrugged and slid his cards into the muck.

Quads Do In Fact Beat Ace High

Steve Zolotow
Steve Zolotow

When Steve Zolotow got his 18,000-chip stack all-in preflop holding {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} against an opponent's {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, it was bleak times indeed. He would need an ace or plenty of diamonds, or plenty of paint to stay alive.

Flop: {6-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

Things only got worse for Zolotow on the flop as his opponent hit a set. When the {4-Diamonds} hit the turn, Zolotow was drawing dead. However, that wouldn't stop the poker gods from whipping out another king, with the {k-Hearts} completing the board on the river.

And with that, Zolotow would be heading home.

Elezra Out

Eli Elezra - grumpy, and out
Eli Elezra - grumpy, and out

WSOP bracelet winner and high-stakes cash game regular Eli Elezra will have to wait for another event for WSOP glory as he has just busted.

Elezra opened for 2,200 from middle position and one of his opponents from late position re-raised enough to put Elezra all in for his last 17,000. Elezra counted down his stack many times before finally committing his stack to the middle and putting his tournament life at risk.

Elezra: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

The {9-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop was safe for Elezra, however, the {A-Diamonds} turn and {A-Clubs} river left his opponent with a full-house, which was good enough to scoop the pot and knock Elezra out of the tournament.

Benyamine Booms

When we came to David Benyamine's table there was a board showing {2-Spades}{6-Clubs}{q-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Benyamine was involved in a hand with one opponent.

Benyamine was on the button and the play was checked to him. Benyamine fired out 4,900 and his opponent quickly made the call.

River: {10-Clubs}

The player again checked to Benyamine and he slid out a bet of 13,700. The player didn't look too happy as he shrugged and announced the call. His shrug was right on the money, his call was not. Benyamine turned over {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} for a set of sixes and raked in the nice pot to sit with around 80,000.

Solomon Swallows Chips

Jarred Solomon is doing just fine over on his table. We recently saw him take down a nice little pot against one opponent. When we arrived at the table there was a board showing {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Solomon's opponent was sliding out a bet. A call from Solomon and the final card would be dealt on the felt.

River: {10-Hearts}

Solomon's opponent checked and after plenty of though, Solomon tipped out a bet of 7,800. His opponent decided to call and was not happy to see Solomon turn over {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, hitting trips on the river to take down the pot.

Mercier Slipping

We caught up with the action in a heads-up pot with PokerStars Team Pro Jason Mercier against a lone opponent. It appeared Mercier had 3-bet an early-position opponent to 4,700 from middle position. His opponent decided to flat.

The flop came {2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} and Mercier's opponent checked to him, prompting a 3,300 continuation-bet from Mercier. His opponent called again.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and both players checked. However, when a {6-Clubs} landed on the river, Mercier's opponent led out for approximately 10,000. Mercier looked a bit disgusted before mucking his hand.

After that hand - Mercier is down to 26,000.

Chopping Cody

When we arrived Jake Cody's table there were three players turning their hands over preflop. Cody was all-in holding {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}, the player on his right was the shortest stack and was also all-in, with him holding {k-Clubs}{8-Spades}. The player with the most chips and who had Cody and the other player covered held {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.

When the board ran out full of bricks, the shortest-stacked player would be heading home, while Cody would be taking down the chopped pot to survive and pick up a few extra chips in the process.
