Sean Small at the WSOPC Main Event in Council Bluffs

Sean Small, who finished third at the WSOPC Council Bluffs Main Event for $54,716 in April, called a his opponent on a {4-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades} board. After a {3-Diamonds} river, Small's opponent kept up the aggression by betting 1,000. Small tossed out a yellow chip to call, and his opponent showed {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for an airball, while Small showed {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and scooped the pot. Small, who arrived late, is quickly making up for lost time.

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

The player in middle position raised to 300 and was called by Richard Burns on the button and the big blind.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{10-Spades}

Big blind shoved for about 7,000 and was called by the player in middle position and Burns.

Burns: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Big blind: {A-Spades}{9-Spades}
Middle position: {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Burns flopped the nut straight, against the middle position's lower straight, while the big blind held the nut flush draw.

The turn card was the {7-Hearts} and the river was a {10-Clubs}.

Burns scooped the pot to triple through and rank amongst the early chip leaders.

Aces are Good

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

A late-position player with a short stack moved all in, Chase Johnson called from the button, and the small blind tagged along. The small blind checked into the dry side pot after {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flopped, and Johnson fired 1,500. The small blind folded, and Johnson showed {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. The short-stacked player had {k-}{j-}, and he failed to improve with the {9-Diamonds} and {6-Diamonds}.

Florestan's Flush Draw Good

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Richard Florestan check-raised all in after his opponent bet 700 on a {5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} flop. His opponent thought for only a few seconds before calling off his stack, revealing {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a flush draw. Unfortunately for him, Florestan's {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} had him drawing slimmer than he expected. A {3-Spades} turn kept Florestan in the lead, and he paired up for good measure on a {2-Hearts} river.
