Hand 10 and 11: Berger Makes Great Call

Level 24 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Hand #10- Scott Clements raised from under the gun to 40,000, and Levi Berger three bet it to 113,000. Clements called, and the flop came {8-Clubs}{j-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. Clements check called a bet of 112,000, and both players checked when the {4-Spades} hit the turn. The river was the {6-Hearts}, and Clements fired out a ginormous bet of 454,000. Berger tanked for quite some time, and after about two minutes of thought, he announced the call. Clements meekly showed {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a busted straight draw, and Berger showed {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} for third pair, which was good enough to take the huge pot.

Hand #11- Ben Palmer raised to 40,000 from the button, and Clements defended his big blind. The flop came {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades}, and Clements check called a bet of 42,000 from Palmer. The {j-Diamonds} hit the turn, and this time, Clements check folded after a 81,000 chip bet from Palmer.
