Dobson Eliminates Charette, Moves Among Chip Leaders

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Just before break Benjamin Dobson moved among the top stacks in the room, and he did so by eliminated Simon Charette in stunning fashion.

Preflop, Dobson made a three bet to 8200. On the button Charette made a four nd to bet to 15,900. Action folded back around to Dobson who moved all in after about a minute of thinking. Charette didn't take long to make the call.

Dobson: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Charette: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}

The flop was good for Charette when it fell {7-Hearts}{J-Spades}{J-Clubs} leaving Dobson drawing to a {10-} or runner runner outs. The turn was the {9-Diamonds} though, giving Dobson some of those runner runner outs. The river completed that draw when it fell the {8-Hearts} eliminating Charette from the tournament.

Dobson is now well over 100,000 chips and looks to be one of the leaders in the room.

Crane Doubles Through Olisar

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Russell Crane
Russell Crane

Action folded around to Russell Crane in the cutoff who opened to 4,000. Ryan Olisar answered on the button by bumping it up to 9,200 with Crane calling.

Crane check called the flop {j-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} when Olisar continued for 7,700. Crane checked again on the {6-Hearts} turn. Olisar made it 20,000 to go and Crane eventually moved all in. Olisar called and showed {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} and Crane {2-Spades}{2-Clubs} for a set. The {q-Spades} river didn't change anything and Crane doubled up.

Tayfun Crippled

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Tayfun Akbasli is crippled after attempting to make a move on two players. Preflop, Chris Hunichen made a raise to 4,000 from the hijack seat. The player in the cutoff then put in a raise to 9,300. On the button Akbasli moved all in. The player in the big blind snap called and everyone else folded.

Akbasli: {A-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Big Blind: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

Akbasli's move may have worked if the big blind hand't woken up with queens. The board came out {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades} giving his opponent quads and Akbasli fell to under ten big blinds.

Hawkins Bullies Makhija, Twice

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

On a board of {8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} Amit Makhija checked to Maurice Hawkins who made a bet of 20,000 into an already enormous pot. Makhija thought about it briefly before making the call. The river was the {Q-Spades} and Makhija checked again. This time Hawkins moved all in for roughly 40,000 chips.

Makhija went deep into the tank, even asked Hawkins to stack his chips in stacks of 20.

"I cover you," Hawkins said as a response.

"It's really close," Makhija said to himself before folding.

Hawkins stacked his newly found chips and the players moved on to the next hand where Makhija open raised to 4,400 chips. Hawkins was still stacking his chips and getting a color change from the staff and after about a minute, he finally put in a reraise to 10,000.

"Sorry," Hawkins said. "I don't want to think about two things at once."

Everyone eventually folded including Makhija and Hawkins collected his second pot in a row. After the hand Hawkins showed {K-}{K-} and told Makhija he had quads on the previous hand.
