Dan Kelly (Day 1)

Dan Kelly was all in and at risk preflop holding {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}, and Jesse Martin had him covered with {a-Spades}{k-Spades}.

Kelly was free rolling after the flop fell {5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, and the {a-Diamonds} on the turn gave both players the same pair. The {j-Hearts} spiked on the river, giving Kelly his flush, and he doubled to 73,000 chips.

Martin fell to 170,000.

Chen Doubles Through Mercier

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Jason Mercier raised to 4,800 from middle position and it folded around to Tommy Chen who three-bet to 16,200. Mercier raised enough to put him all in and Chen called for 37,200 total, showing {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. Mercier rolled over {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and was racing for Chen's life.

The board fell {5-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and Chen was able to double up with his ace-high flush.

Lunkin Cracks Kings to Bust Eames

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

We arrived at the table to find John Eames all in before the flop against Vitaly Lunkin. Eames was looking good holding {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} over Lunkin's {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}.

Eames fell quickly behind, however, as the the flop gave Lunkin three jacks with {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{A-Clubs}. The {8-Hearts} rolled off on the turn and the {7-Diamonds} finished off the board, ensuring that Eames would be forced to the rail. He made a quick exit from the tournament area and Lunkin stacked his new chips. His stack now sits around 110,000.

On the other side of the room, a short-stacked Benjamin Volpe was eliminated from play in unknown action.

Benjamin Volpe Doubles Back

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Jason Somerville opened to 5,000 from under the gun and action folded to recently crippled Benjamin Volpe.

"Pot!" Volpe loudly proclaimed as moved all in for his last 11,000. Dario Minieri tanked from the next seat over before making a raise to 21,000 and the rest of the table including Somerville folded.

Minieri: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Volpe: {A-Spades}{10-Spades}

Volpe found no help on the {4-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop but the {9-Hearts} on the turn gave him additional outs to win.

"King!" said Volpe.

Ask and you shall receive. The dealer burned the final card and tabled the {K-Diamonds}, putting two pair higher than eights on the board and allowing for Volpe's ace-high to finish as the best hand. He was able to score a double and is now sitting on about 29,000.

Huge Hold for Vandersmissen; Benjamin Volpe Crippled

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante
Kevin Vandersmissen (Day 1) doubles
Kevin Vandersmissen (Day 1) doubles

Kevin Vandersmissen raised to 4,800 from early position, Benjamin Volpe flatted on his direct left, and the rest of the players folded. The dealer fanned {9-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, Vandersmissen checked, and Volpe fired out 6,500. Vandersmissen check-raised to 15,000, Volpe bet the pot, Vandersmissen moved all in for 59,700, and Volpe called for a few extra thousand more.

Vandersmissen: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Volpe: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Volpe held a monster draw, but the turn and river bricked off {j-Clubs}, {k-Hearts} respectively. Vandersmissen doubled to 123,000 chips, while Volpe only has 9,600.
