Small Dent in Chidwick's Mountain

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Stephen Chidwick has assembled quite an impressive looking stack that might even make Jason Mercier a bit jealous, but we just saw him lose a bit of it to former November Niner John Racener.

Both players had a ton of chips in the middle in front of them when we got to the table to see the board completed {j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Racener fired out a river bet, and Chidwick made the call. Racener tabled {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}{a-Hearts}{4-Spades} for top two pair, and Chidwick kicked his cards in.

Masterson & Leah Joint Bubble Boys

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante
Greg Masterson (right) as he waits to reveal his hand.
Greg Masterson (right) as he waits to reveal his hand.

Hand-for-hand play lasted approximately five hands, and it was actually quite an interesting affair as three extremely short stacks played position in the hopes of folding their way into the money. Unfortunately for Greg Masterson, who was the shortest with a single lavender T500 chip, the blinds hit him first.

Masterson received some protection when the player in the cutoff raised and drove the rest of the field out. The cutoff showed {2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{k-Spades} and Masterson, who hadn't looked at his cards up to that point, revealed the {a-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{q-Spades}{k-Clubs}. The board ran out {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades} giving the cutoff a wheel, but it also gave Masterson a flush. The two chopped the pot and Masterson had 800.

Those chips went in automatically in the next hand as Masterson inherited the small blind. This time he would have to face four other players, including John Racener and Stephen Chidwick. There was a bet and two calls on the {5-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop, and then the three active players checked down the {Q-Hearts} turn and {2-Hearts} river.

Racener tabled the {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} for two pair, Chidwick the {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{j-Clubs} for an ace-seven low and an early-position player the {a-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for not much of anything. Masterson, who hadn't looked at his cards, didn't have much to beat to stay alive. Appropriately, he'd have to wait to see what he held as the tournament staff halted the action due to another all-in situation at another table.

Upon our arrival there were discovered Mike Leah all in with the {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} in front of him on a {9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Spades}{k-Spades} board. Unfortunately for him, Christopher Meyer had a huge lead with the {a-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Clubs}. The {2-Diamonds} river failed to help Leah and he was officially eliminated from the tournament.

Meanwhile, Masterson was finally able to tabled his cards and showed the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. It wasn't what he was looking for and he joined Leah on the rail. Since they busted in the same hand, Masterson and Leah will split the $2,600 prize money associated with 117th place.

Eskenazi Survives Three-Time WSOP Bracelet Winner

Level 15 : 1,300/2,500, 0 ante

A couple days ago, Tom Schneider took down Event #15: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. to claim his third career WSOP bracelet. Schneider is still in contention in today's field as he looks to capture his second bracelet in a week, and amazingly his wife, Julie, is along for the ride... as a player! That's right, both Tom and Julie are in the money here in Event #20: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Low 8-or-Better.

In a recent hand, Tom Schneider limped from middle position only to have Scott Eskenazi raise from the button. The blinds both folded and Schneider made the call. Neither Schneider nor Eskenazi had many chips, but that didn't stop the latter from betting after the former had checked. Schneider responded with a check-raise, Eskenazi called and the dealer burned and turned the {8-Diamonds}.

Schneider wasted little time in leading out and Eskenazi quickly called off his remaining 2,400.

Eskenazi : {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Schneider: {3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{a-Spades}

Schneider had the high with a full house while Eskenazi's ace-six low was currently the best low. The {K-Diamonds} failed to change either of their hands and the two chopped the pot.

Lefkowitz Eliminated by Morgan

Level 15 : 1,300/2,500, 0 ante

Matt Lefkowitz called from middle position and Daniel Weinman, who you may recall as the fourth-place finish in the World Series of Poker Circuit Harrah's New Orleans Main Event late last month, did the same from the hijack. Jordan Morgan came along from the big blind and three players saw a flop of {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

Two checks put action on Weinman and he promptly fired out a bet. After two calls were made, the dealer burned and turned the {4-Spades} and Morgan led out with a bet. Lefkowitz called off his last 900 and Weinman got out of the way.

Lefkowitz: {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Morgan: {k-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{9-Spades}

Lefkowitz was looking for a low card to keep his tournament hopes alive, but he was left wanting as the {Q-Spades} rolled off on the river. Lefkowitz was eliminated in 91st place and will take home $2,819.
