Marquez Making Marvelous Comeback, Doubles Through Cheong

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Doubling her short stack once already, Ana Marquez has taken down another pot, and with one more all-in win she would actually move her stack above the average after starting the day with less than 4 big blinds.

Joseph Cheong opened for 2,700 from early position, and Marquez moved all-in for her last 8,500 or so chips. Cheong quickly made the call with his {9-Spades}{10-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, but a wry grin suggested that he expected to be crushed.

Marquez revealed the {j-Hearts}{q-Spades}{a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} however, and Cheong found that his medium pocket pair was actually ahead of the assortment of Broadway cards.

The flop rolled out {5-Clubs}{2-Spades}{a-Spades}, however, and Marquez won this Omaha-style coin flip. The turn ({3-Clubs}) and river ({2-Hearts}) brought no spades or eights Cheong's way, and Marquez gave herself a second life here on the second day of play.
