Scott Davies Eliminated in 12th Place ($15,740)

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Scott Davies - 12th Place
Scott Davies - 12th Place

Action folded to Scott Davies on the button and he made it 28,000 to go. Eddie Blumenthal called from the big blind and then bet the pot when the flop came down {3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}. Davies, who only had 8,000 behind, called off.

Davies: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Blumenthal: {5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Davies was way out in front with top set, and when the {10-Clubs} turned, all he needed to do was dodge a six on the river to double. That proved easier said than done though as the {6-Spades} spiked. Blumenthal hit his gutshot to send Davies to the rail in 12th place.

Andrei Kaigorodtcev Eliminated in 13th Place ($12,638)

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Andrei Kaigorodtcev - 13th Place
Andrei Kaigorodtcev - 13th Place

Josh Pollock raised to 16,000 from under the gun, KT Park flatted from the button, and Andrei Kaigorodtcev moved all-in over the top from the big blind, putting his last 83,000 at risk.

Pollock isolated the all-in player with a reraise of the pot, forcing Park to get out of the way, and the two players exposed their holdings.

Showdown:

Pollock: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Kaigorodtcev: {j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Kaigorodtcev had run his kings up against aces, and when the flop fell {5-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, his chances of survival will virtually nil. The {4-Diamonds} on the turn made things official, and after meaningless {10-Hearts} on the river, Kaigorodtcev headed for the payout desk in 13th place.

Uzair Mulla Eliminated in 14th Place ($12,625)

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Uzair Mulla - 14th Place
Uzair Mulla - 14th Place

The preflop details escaped us, but we do know Uzair Mulla from Leawood, Kansas got his stack of 103,000 all in from the cutoff and was up against Josh Pollock in late position.

Mulla: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Pollock: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Mulla needed some help to overcome the aces of Pollock, but he didn't find much on the {k-Spades}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop. The {3-Clubs} turn actually gave Pollock two pair and left Mulla drawing dead headed to the river, which came the {5-Diamonds}.

Matthew Prior Eliminated in 15th Place ($12,625)

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Matthew Prior - 15th Place
Matthew Prior - 15th Place

Matthew Prior managed to get his stack of 78,000 all in preflop from the small blind and was up against Josh Pollock, who was on the button.

Pollock: {a-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Prior: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

Prior got it in good with a pair of tens, and Pollock only held one over. Unfortunately for Prior, Pollock hit that over on the {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop. The {2-Spades} turn improved Pollock to two pair, which meant Prior needed a ten on the river to stay alive. The dealer burned and put out the {3-Spades}.

Prior collected his things and made his way to the payout desk in 15th place.

Young Ji Eliminated in 16th Place ($10,254)

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Young Ji - 16th Place
Young Ji - 16th Place

After his momentary sabbatical from the tournament, Young Ji returned with a vengeance, raising a few pots preflop hoping to make a comeback that was not to be.

When Ji opened to 28,000 from under the gun, Eddie Blumenthal called out of the big blind to see a flop of {q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Ji quickly bet the pot, going all-in for his last 94,000. Blumenthal looked him up with {5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades}, having flopped straight draws and middle pair.

Ji rolled over the {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} for top pair and a flush draw, but the {4-Clubs} on the turn spelled disaster for the flamboyant man in black, giving Blumenthal a straight. The {Q-Clubs} on the river gave Ji trip queens, but his hand was second best, and with that he hit the rail in 16th place.

Nuthin' But a Ji Thang

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

After being forced out of a hand when the {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{j-Clubs} was not to his favor, a frustrated Young Ji made an unusual move during a tournament's latter stages: he simply walked away from the table.

What appeared to be the simple act of walking off a loss turned into a lengthy absence in which Ji missed five deals. Sitting on a short stack of 120,000, good for just 15 big blinds, Ji willingly sacrificed five potential chances to double up.

Upon returning to the table, Ji immediately woke up with a hand he liked, and his open to 28,000 was enough to scoop the blinds. Ji turned over the {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for a preflop monster, saying "thank you, thank you" as he dragged the pot.

One wonders if those five hands that were mucked by the dealer might have been on equal footing with this holding, but alas, both we and Ji will never know.

Jared Ingles Eliminated in 18th Place ($10,254)

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Jared Ingles -18th Place
Jared Ingles -18th Place

David Colin opened to 16,000 from early position, and Jared Ingles bumped it up to 60,000 , effectively putting himself all-in. Colin threw in the additional 4,000 needed to officially put Ingles at-risk, and the two revealed their holdings.

Showdown:

Ingles: {9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Colin: {8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{10-Spades}

Both players were looking to connect with the board, and when the flop fell {8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{j-Spades}, Colin took the lead with his pair of eights. Ingles flopped an open-ended straight draw, however, and with his ace-king he still had plenty of outs with which to catch up.

Turn: {4-Clubs}
River: {10-Diamonds}

The final two cards were blanks for Ingles, and he headed to the payout desk after finishing in 18th place.

Schwartz-Off

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Michael Schwartz - 19th Place
Michael Schwartz - 19th Place

Josh Pollock opened for 12,000 on the button, and with his stack recently shortened after doubling up Eric Shanks, Michael Schwartz decided to make his stand from the big blind holding the {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. He raised to 39,000, and called all-in for his last 124,000 after Pollock repotted.

Pollock showed down the {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, and with his overpair pitted against spread out suited connectors, the two were off to the races.

Flop: {10-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Schwartz found a flop he liked as his two pair were in the lead. The {A-Hearts} on the turn didn't seem to change much, but when the {A-Spades} hit the river it gave , he was eliminate Pollock a bigger two pair. Schwartz was eliminated in 19th place.
