Event #24 Kicks Off at Noon

Welcome back for another day of the 44th annual World Series of Poker. Here in 2013, there are nine single-entry $1,500 no-limit hold'em events, and another one will be kicking off today. This event is the third of its kind of the summer, with the first two drawing 1,819 players and 2,105 players, respectively. Another field around the 2,000-player mark is expected for to gather today.

In the last $1,500 no-limit hold'em event, Athanasios Polychronopoulos earned his second WSOP gold bracelet to become part of the elite club of multiple bracelet winners. We much expect Polychronopoulos to be back in the mix today gunning for a third, along with handfuls of other notable faces.

Also on the slate for June 13 are the conclusion of Event #20: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Low 8-or-Better and Event #21: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em (Six Handed). There is also the Day 2s of Event #22: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha and Event #23: $2,500 Seven-Card Stud, and then Event #25: $5,000 Omaha Hi-Low 8-or-Better will be starting at 5 p.m.

PokerNews will have you covered all day long, but right now let's kick it over to our very own Lynn Gilmartin for a more in-depth look at everything that's happening around the Rio.

Play in Event #24 is scheduled to kick off at 12 p.m. local time in Las Vegas, so let's get ready to rock and roll!
