Short-Stacked Mercier Triples Up

Level 6

Roman Verenko raised from middle position and was called by David Levi in the small blind and Jason Mercier in the big blind.

Levi and Mercier check-called bets from Verenko after the {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop and {7-Spades} turn, culminating with Mercier calling all in for his last 500 after a few moments. The {J-Spades} river was checked by both Levi and Verenko.

Verenko showed the {K-Clubs} for trips, but Mercier collected the pot with {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} for a baby flush to increase his stack to about 5,000.

Hellmuth AWOL

Level 5

Phil Hellmuth registered late for this event and began play after the dinner break. His initial table was soon broken, and soon afterward the Poker Brat was sighted at his new table with his head in his hands. A few minutes later, he had left the tournament area. His seat has remained empty for 30 minutes now. As his chips are slowly blinded off, the question lingers...when will the 13-time bracelet winner return?
