Aces vs. Aces

Level 3

We caught up with the action on the river with the board reading {7-Clubs}{j-Spades}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Vanessa Selbst checked and then faced a bet from Joe Ford, who finished fourth yesterday in the $1,500 Omaha Eight-or-Better tournament. Selbst raised, Ford called, and it was time for a showdown:

Selbst: {3-Hearts}{a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Ford: {q-Hearts}{k-Spades}{a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

The players split the high with their pairs of aces, while Selbst won the low with her seventy-five. Ford got quartered, and Selbst raked in the remaining three-quarters of the pot.

2013 WSOP Event 20 Gold Bracelet Winner Calen McNeil
2013 WSOP Event 20 Gold Bracelet Winner Calen McNeil

Calen McNeil, who earlier today won his first bracelet in the $1,500 Omaha Eight-or-better event, late registered for this event at took his seat at the beginning of level three.

McNeil is picking up right where he left off, and is quickly gathering chips. On one of the first hands after break, McNeil limped from the button and saw a flop four-handed. With the board reading {6-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, McNeil bet out, and two other players called. The turn was the {8-Clubs}, and McNeil bet again. This time, everyone else folded. McNeil raked in the pot and is already adding to his stack.

Ho Counterfeited; Wins Anyway

Level 2

Maria Ho limped from late position, and the small blind raised. Vanessa Selbst called from the big blind, and Ho also called. The flop was {3-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}, and the small blind led out. Selbst folded, but Ho raised. After the blind called, the dealer turned the {3-Clubs}. Ho bet and was called, and she bet again on the {3-Diamonds} river card and was called again. Ho turned over {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. She had flopped top two pair, but the turn and river killed both her pairs. She ended up with trip threes with A-K kicker. It was enough, however, as her opponent mucked his cards and Ho took the pot. She is now up to 18,500.
