Matusow Folds; Guth Takes It

Level 12

John Guth opened with a raise from early position and Tom McCormick three-bet. It folded to Mike Matusow who called from the big blind and Guth four-bet the action when it came to him. McCormick called and Matusow called as well.

The flop brought {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Spades} onto the felt and Matusow checked. Guth was all in for his last 700 and McCormick and Matusow both called.

The turn was the {A-Spades} and Matusow led with a bet. McCormick quickly announced a raise and Matusow went into the tank. Eventually he let it go and the hands were tabled. Guth held {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Clubs} to McCormick's {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. The {Q-Clubs} completed the board on the river and Guth picked up the whole pot, boosting his stack to about 18,000. McCormick, on the other hand, has fallen to around 10,000.

"He saved your life," Matusow remarked to Guth after the hand in reference to McCormick.
