Watson Flops a Set and Doubles

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Mike Watson pushed all in on a board reading {8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{9-Spades} when his opponent bet 28,400 into a fairly large pot. Watson's opponent called and the cards were flipped:

Watson: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Opponent: {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Watson had flopped a set while his opponent had flopped two pair. Only four outs would eliminate Watson. The river {3-Diamonds} was not one of them and Watson doubled up to 307,000.

"Big Dog" Triples Up with Jack-Deuce

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Barry Lang
Barry Lang

Tom Alner opened to 4,000 from the cut off and Brandon Cantu on the button made the call. Alexander Lakhov in the small blind called as well and Barry "Big Dog" Lang went for it and announced all in for 40,000 even. Tom Alner pushed his chips to the middle as well, Cantu folded and Lakhov called to have a three way all in.

Alexander Lakhov{A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Tom Alner{A-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Barry "Big Dog" Lang{J-Spades}{2-Hearts}

The flop was good for Lang who hit a deuce: {2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn and {3-Spades} on the river didn't do him any harm anymore and he tripled up. Before we knew it Lang was doing some sort of dance and he was fist bumping Brandon Cantu and another player at the table. "As soon as I had him out", pointing at Cantu, "I was home free!" Lang shouted. "That's my revenge man!" he laughed. Tom Alner busted and Lakhov had to give 40,000 to Lang while receiving something back from the side pot.

"Any Two Cantu" Busts Salsberg

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Matt Salsberg
Matt Salsberg

In the last hand before the break, with just 18 seconds left on the clock, Brandon Cantu opened the cut off to 6,500. In the small blind Matt Salsberg pushed his stack to the middle: 24,100 total. Cantu thought about it for a while and eventually made the call with {9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Cantu explained that he was doing Salsberg a favor, giving him the chance to either double up or bust before the hour long dinner break. Salsberg didn't look unhappy with the situation as he showed his {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

Cantu would hit on the flop though, which meant bad news for Salsberg: {9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{A-Spades}. The {4-Diamonds} on the turn and {8-Diamonds} on the river were not the cards Salsberg was hoping for and while all the players were already on break, Salsberg departed in 41st place ($7,446).

Cards in the Air

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

The cards are back in the air. The tournament will resume until 32 players remain, and at that point the survivors will bag and tag for the evening. They will then be seeded based upon chip standings, and play heads-up matches until a winner is crowned.

Koon Bests Ausmus

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Jason Koon checked to Jeremy Ausmus on a flop of {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Ausmus fired out 6,300, and Koon made the call.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, and Koon opted to lead out, firing 15,000. Ausmus called.

The river was the {7-Spades}, Koon led for another 22,000, and Ausmus folded.

Next Time Give Me Two

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Mazin Khoury raised it to 5,000 from first position. Brandon Cantu re-raised to 14,000 from the button. The blinds folded as did Khoury.

As Cantu raked in the pot he tells the dealer and the table, "Next time give me both cards!"

Cantu apparently only raised with one card. He never had both cards and still won the pot. Cantu is running good even if it is only with one card!

Closer to Heads-Up Play

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Burton Ritchie moved all in with {k-Clubs}{2-Spades} on a flop of {7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}, and Brandon Cantu called with {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. Cantu held up as the turn and river bricked {9-Clubs}, {6-Diamonds} respectively, and Ritchie hit the rail.

Cantu now sits with 425,000 chips.

On an adjacent table, Joshua Templeton was eliminated with unknown action.
