Tamayo Takes One Down

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Preflop Jonathan Tamayo limped in from the small blind. The player in the big blind then moved all in for 15,200. After some thought, Tamayo made the call.

Tamayo: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Big Blind: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {K-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{9-Spades} and that board was good enough to give Tamayo the elimination and the chips.

Nguyen Opts to Gamble

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

"Alright, let's gamble," we heard the animated Kenny Nguyen say.

We made our way over to discover he had just called an opponent's all-in shove for approximately 20,000, which was about half of Nguyen's stack.

Nguyen: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Opponent: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}

It was a bit of a gamble as Nguyen was in a race situation. Fortunately for him, the {k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop delivered him a pair of kings and the lead. Neither the {J-Spades} turn nor {3-Hearts} river helped the all-in player, and Nguyen was pushed the pot.

Musumeci's Revenge

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Last year, Ashkan Razavi busted Amanda Musumeci heads up in this very event and denied her of a bracelet. While it may not be as sweet as beating Razavi heads up, Musumeci just got a little revenge by ending his title defense.

Preflop, Razavi moved all in for 12,500 from the hijack seat. Musumeci asked for a count and then made the call from the button. All the other players folded and the two showed up their hands.

Musumeci: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Razavi: {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The dealer laid out the {8-}{Q-}{6-}{4-}{3-} board, and that was no help for Razavi who made another deep run and cashed for the second year in a row.

Arieh Sends One to the Rail

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Josh Arieh opened for 3,300 under the gun only to have a player in middle position move all in for 13,300 more. Action folded back to Arieh and he made the call.

Arieh: {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Opponent: {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}

It was a classic flip, and one that would come down in Arieh's favor as the board ran out {j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

Boutin Busts One

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

"Ahhh man!" we heard Burt Boutin yelling from across the Amazon room along with some expletives.

When we looked Boutin had a player all in. He was holding {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} on a {10-}{j-}{k-}{a-} board against {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

But his anger didn't last long as an {A-} hit the river filling him up against his opponent's straight. "That's what I'm talking about." Boutin said, giving a little fist pump.

"All the money got in on the flop," Amnon Filippi told us, who is also seated at Boutin's table.
